Scenario 2 Soviet Air Assault
Scale: 15mm
Location: Fulda Gap, West Germany

Situation:

June 16, 1987
Operation Steel Tow is under way in the East German countryside. A combined force consisting of Soviet and East German troops have come to a halt when 2 Soviet IL-76 Transport plans flew off course and dumped its cargo into NATO held territory.

The US forces in the area have been monitoring the Soviet East German operation for two days and are gearing up for a major offensive action by the Warsaw Pact forces that seem to be bearing down the Fulda Gap.

The US 11th ACR have been deployed to counter any hostile activity until The Forces either Withdraw or show their true intentions.

Mission:
Your Platoon of Air Assault troops have drifted off course and crossed over the blockade in the Fulda Region.
The BMD APC’s have landed separately from the crew and you must retrieve the vehicles. Beware that this is NATO territory and hostilities may happen.


Game set up:
The GM will randomly drop the BMD’s before game. The Infantry Squads will enter the table by their choice and may set up 12 inches onto the board. The Soviet player may enter from as many sides as necessary. (Up to 3 sides only). The BMD’s must be found and in Operation before NATO troops Arrive, this will take two complete turns to activate the BMD's before they can move.
Protect your self but do not start any hostile activity.
Recover the BMD and return to East Germany with out incident, remember that you have a sister platoon on the other side of the fence in East Germany that maybe called for help.


GM Notes:
The center of the game board will be marked off into a 4x4 area. A d12 will be used to determine which area each of the BMD’s land in. Once an area that has been designated as a landing point for the BMD’s has had a successful Spotting attempt, and a valid line of site, then the BMD’s will be placed on the board.








Defender:
11th ACR

The 11 ACR has dispatched a Scout Platoon to evaluate the situation and determine the threat level of the Soviet forces in the region.

3 M113 APC
Each M113 has five-scout infantrymen w/ M16A2 and 1 M203 Grenade Launcher.
Armor Cavalry Squad (M-113)
The squad will have one M-113 vehicle attached to the five-man squad. The gunner and the driver will stay with the vehicle, while the rest of the squad will dismount the vehicle for missions.

Special Rules:
The Infantrymen have a +2 to spot enemy forces when dismounted. Your forces will enter the area from the south road at speed 24.

Capturing enemy forces.
To capture enemy forces you must be with in 15 Centimeters and have them already spotted. If not fired upon by the enemy the 11th ACR commander will issue an option to the soviet player to surrender or be taken as a hostile force with combat ensuing.

Mission:
Recon the area and capture any enemy personnel and equipment.
