Battle flag in the Texas state archives used by troops in the western Louisiana theater under Gen. Richard Taylor's command, under whom the Valverde Battery served (click here for a unit history). Note the usual colors of the Confederate battle flag, a blue stripe on a red field, are reversed.
This page is a recruiting site for a Civil War artillery battery, forming in the state of Texas to compete in live fire matches under the North-South Skirmish Association (east coast) and/or the Civil War Skirmish Association (west coast & central U.S.). Battery activity will center around the use of a Confederate Mountain Rifle manufactured by Steen Cannons, but members may also participate in events in morter, musket, carbine, and revolver.

One of the two remaining ValVerde Battery guns: a 3-inch ordnance rifle captured at Mansfield and buried after the confederate surrender. It is currently located at the Confederate Reunion Grounds near Mexia, Texas.
The second 3" rifle is located at the Freestone County Courthouse in Fairfield, Texas.
