Star Wars Episode Revenge of the Sith

Incredible movie! Superior Sequel! Biased Critic?!

Okay it does have it's fault in the script dept., but that is it!

Incredible pacing, score, and effects this is the what is right about the Star Wars saga and why the fans love it!

A real emotional roller coaster for the hard-core fans!

RATING:5/5

The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy

More Comedy (loaded with heavy satire) than science fiction, Hitchhikers is one excellent British movie.

Funny from start to finish with an excellent cast and even better script!

RATING: 4/5

XXX2

Ice Cube takes over from Vin Diesel in this all guns a blazing superior sequel to the mediocre XXX!

Predictable, but fun, well directed that does not try to be anything other than an action movie! Willem Dafoe is as excellent as usual and paired with Samuel L Jackson make a great hero/villain partnership!

RATING: 3/5

Be cool

A sequel without a point that does nothing but make you forget chow good Get Shorty was!

RATING: 1/5

Miss Congeniality 2 Armed and Fabulous

The most pointless sequel since Bridget Jones 2. The usually great Sandra Bullock picked up her cheque and ran on autopilot with this no brainer of a sequel which oozes predictability and is nothing short of crap! On a positive note it's not that long a movie YAY!!

RATING: 1/5

Constantine

Keanu Reeves returns to the big screen in not so surprisingly a comic book based movie. Like we aren't getting enough of them this year.

Keanu is as wooden as ever, but for once it works and the script is predictable. But, the effects aren't bad and you could see a lot worse (Elecktra) this year!

RATING: 3/5

Robots

I've seen better! Not even the voices of Ewan McGregor and Robin Williams can save this poor man's Pixar/Dreamworks movie!

Rather than pay out good money to see this just buy Finding Nemo, Shrek, Toy Story or the Incredibles as they are all better!

RATING: 2/5

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

YES! A prime example of great film making! The Life Aquatic has an excellent ensemble cast including Own Wilson, Anjeclica Huston, Jeff Goldblum and Cate Blanchett, but it is Bill Murray and Willem Dafoe that steal the show!

The usually tough Dafoe has an incredible knack for comedy and should do more while Murray continues his transition to more serious comedy.

RATING: 4/5.

Harold and Kumar get the Munchies.

As gross out teen flicks go this is one of the best in recent years. Funnier than most of the Post (American) Pie movies yet unashamedly lacking a heart or Character redemption. Harold and Kumar does not try to be anything more than what it is. A Stoner movie about an Asian and an Indian. With a great cameo from Neil (Doogie Howser) Harris and numerous plays on racism. Harold and Kumar is a great ' check the brain out' movie.

RATING: 4/5

Coach Carter

Cross Dangerous Minds with The Principal then takeout the heart and you have Coach Carter!

Not even the excellence Samuel L Jackson can save this predictable and preachy MTV produced movie that falls short on just about everything.

RATING: 2/5

Garden State

Zach (scrubs)Braff's Writing/Directorial debut is an almost perfect start to an after TV career that makes you look forward to what he'll come up with next!

With excellent writing, direction, photography, soundtrack and performances this film is almost perfect.

It is only let down during times where it tries to be too clever and arty as if Zach is trying too hard to show how clever he is.

Natalie Portman gives a performance that equals that of Closer and is more charming. The cast elevate the movie while the music is so cool and well placed.

RATING: 4/5

Oceans 12

If Oceans 11 was Soderburgh's Classic 50s homage then 12 is his 70s French New Wave movie.

With some good twists a great cast and excellent direction the film is sometimes self mocking and non conventional of the standard Hollywood sequel.

My only complaint is Andy Garcia! He isn't in it enough!!!!

If you appreciate cinema then you'll love Oceans 12!

RATING: 4/5

Assault on Precinct 13

Having not seen John Carpenters original I have no point of reference as to how it compares to it, but I can say that this is one of the best action movies I have seen in a while.

Not as brutal as the Punisher, but with a similar 70s style approach to the violence, Assault.... is well acted and has enough twists to make it thrilling viewing from start to finish. None of the characters are safe in a movie that forgot to be predictable in the 'Who lives' stakes.

RATING: 4/5

Meet the Fockers

Dustin Hoffman and Robert DeNiro are good, Ben Stiller is wasted in this cross between Meet the Parents and a bad 70s British Sitcom

The chemistry and interaction between DeNiro and Hoffman is funny, but after Dodgeball, Stiller's comedic genius is just wasted.

The Gaylord and Focker jokes are milked too much and boredom set in faster than the predictability!

RATING: 2/5

Team America

Hysterical puppet movie that pokes fun at everything (especially America) from the creators of South Park (and the under appreciated Orgazmo)!

With (TVs) Thunderbirds style Puppets, Team America features the most graphic puppet violence, vomiting and sex (straight and gay) I have ever seen!

Trey Parker and Matt Stone have come up with a movie that tries to be nothing more than funny and is an excellent poke at both sides of Americans standpoint on war!

RATING: 4/5

Closer

Wow what a movie!

Great acting, well Directed and standout performances from Clive Owen and Natalie make Closer one of the best film I have seen so far this year.

With brutally realistic dialogue, beautiful photography and great pacing Closer is a perfect example of great cinema.

Not that the film itself is perfect. My only complaint are the time elapses in which the characters talking let us know that some time has passed. That, and Jude Law and (the usually excellent) Julia Roberts are acted off of the screen by both Clive Owen and Natalie Portman who are both deserving of the awards they have achieved through their performances in Closer.

RATING: 4/5

Elektra

Standard comic book movie that lacks the darkness of Daredevil, but does go to explain how Elektra came back from the dead at the end of Daredevil.

At a time where comic book movie adaptations are the rage Elektra is sadly one of the more forgettable!

RATING 2/5

House of Flying Daggers

After Hero, Zhang Yimou and Ziyi Zhang return with House of Flying Daggers.

Ziyi is as beautiful as ever while Yimou has crafted a more linear but just as beautiful Wushu movie as Hero.

Great story, photography and choreography make this one of the more unique cinematic experiences this year!
