This page is dedicated to the Masonic Jewels worn by Members of the Lodge, Past and Present, and hopefully will be of interest to Jewel collectors world wide. |
The Jewels of the Craft (JOTC) was formed in 1990 by a number of Masons with a common interest in Masonic Jewels. To visit their site, click on the link on the right. |
This is the most recent Jewel issued by the Grand Lodge of Ireland and is worn on the Masters Collar and also by some of the Brethen in the Lodge. It was issued in the year 2000 to commemorate the 275th Anniversary of the Grand Lodge of Ireland. It depicts the 1st Earl of Rosse the Grand master in 1725. This is the bronze version, a silver version is also available. The ribbon (of course) is the cross of St. Patrick. |
From the newest to the oldest. This is the Past Masters Jewel Presented to Wor. Bro. Thomas Adams in 1910. It is interesting to note that the ribbon is 1 1/2" wide and not the standard 1 1/4" as it is today. |
This Jewel was issued by the Grand Lodge of Ireland in 1987 to commemorate the centenary of the Victoria Jubilee Masonic Annunity Fund. 1887 - 1987. The inscription reads "VICTORIA D.G. FID. DEF." The cost of the Jewel was a donation of a least £50 to the Fund. This is also worn on the Masters collar. |
A Jewel donated to the Lodge by the widow of Wor. Bro. T. George Neville (18 degree). George was Worshipful Master of Cairncastle in 1965 and Provincial Grand Lodge Sword Bearer in 1992. He was a founder member of the Antrim Lodge of Installed Masters No.218. |
A 50 year Jewel issued by the Grand Lodge of Ireland to the late Wor. Bro. John McCoubrey. Worshipful Master of Cairncastle 1962. The simple inscription on the reverse "JOHN McCOUBREY JUNE 1949-1999" |

A very unusual PM Jewel issued to Bro. Robert Crawford in 1932. Unusual, because the Lodge name is in enamel and the Masters name is inscribed on the front instead of the reverse. Again the ribbon is 1 1/2" wide. |
"Past Masters' Jewels -- The question of permission to wear Past Masters' Jewels of gold was considered by Grand Lodge on 6th June 1918, when it was decided that such a practice was not in accordance with Grand Lodge Regulations as to Jewels of Office." |
"Past Masters -- The Square and Compasses, enclosing the letter G. The Past Master's Jewel may be worn from a sky-blue ribbon or cord around the neck." |
MARK MASTER MASON |
This may be the oldest Jewel associated with the Lodge. It is hand made and could be the origional collar Jewel worn by the Past Master in 1809 (Silver?). Further research is necessary!!!! |
