Picked up the car. Looks great total cost $1260 inc new windscreen rubber from rare spares. Definatly worth every cent.

February 10th 1999
Got a phone call from the panel beaters. The car is ready to pick up...Yahoo

February 5th 1999
The new windscreen rubber came in. The price was much better than quoted, only $130. Now work at the panel beaters is full steam ahead.

January 27th 1999
The dash pad is finished. Now I can assemble the dash and deliver it to the panel beaters. Its been a bit of a catch 22 situation lately. The windscreen can't go in until the dash is in place first, and the dash can't go in until all the pads are in place and the dash is painted.

January 20th 1999
The dash board has been painted and is awaiting the return of the pads. Mmmm not real sure about the colour. Maybe it will tone down a bit when surrounded by the red and white interior.

January 15th 1999
Went to visit the car at the panel beaters after a call from them this morning. The Pilars are in place and the planim chamber is repaired. Just one problem, the secondhand windscreen and rubber don't fit. It could be that they are from the wrong model, so we ordered a new one from "Rare Spares". Dig deep, they're not cheap. The rust work looks first class.

January 12th 1999
The car is still at the panel beaters. I called in a couple of days ago to see how its going. Its still at the same stage as Jan 6.

The Dash pad has also been delayed, but thats my fault. I forgot to get something done before droping it off to him. The dash pad goes back tomorrow.

January 11th 1999
I've decided on Monza Red for the dash. The Guages are black (right side of dash), the heater contols are black (center of dash), The Glove box (left side of dash) I'll paint black to keep balance in the dash. Lets hope the red isn't too bright.

January 10th 1999
Gosh, I need to put the cart before the horse. I have to decide on a colour for the dash and have it painted before its fitted to the car. I propose to paint the car white, and have a 60's red and white interior. So what colour should the dash be ?

January 6th 1999
The car has been at the panel beaters for three weeks now. The delay is because of the Christmas break and the last minute rush of urgent jobs (I've said mine isn't urgent).

The car is having the rear passengers floor pan repaired due to rust around the seat belt retaining bolt.
New windscreen pillars are being cut in because they are rusted from top to bottom.
And rust repairs to the planim chamber (the chamber where air enters the car and travels to the vents or the heater. Water also enters here and is suposed to exit via drains not onto the front floor like mine).

Still waiting for the dash pads to be recovered. I'm going to drive to Newcastle tomorrow and chase them up. I need the dash to be reassembled and back in the car so the panel beaters can fit the windscreen, (a double check that windscreen pillars are cut in correctly).

Prior to this page being built

Engine has been started and done about 2 hours of running. It has extensive oil leaks. Compression is equal between cylinders and oil pressure is good. No stem seal smoke!!! I think it only needs basic work.

Gearbox is tested and is slipping bad, I believe that it's beyond repair.

Carby is running very rich.

Dash striped and repainted. Dash pads sent away for recovering. Guages striped, restored and re-assembled.

Interior striped, (carpet rotted and seats torn).
