Some people have discovered that in the English version that if you get the Midger Key for the traveling peddler that if you go back to the church then you can see a glimpse of Aeris. But in the original story line it was in fact that you could bring Aeris back from the dead but this was removed from the plot for a reason unknown to me so i am going to ask around and find out exactly why it has been removed. 

Theories

I believe that Aeris was not brought back to life because that square soft had very little time to make the game as it was though to be that FFVII was not going to be a success so they decided it was pointless to add his feature to a game which was not sure would succeed. 

Fact 2

I have discovered while reading a Japanese magazine (well browsing though, can’t read Japanese you see) that in the Japanese game the blue Chocobos can indeed go underwater. But in the English version this was taken out and more sub pen stations were added across the map. In the Japanese Version the same amount of Sub pens except but only so that they can complete the game in the same way we can. (A bit unfair if you ask me they get all the stuff we get but we don’t get all the stuff they get)
