/erse 1  If you can take abuse, mix true love & a drink
May be smooth goin' down, but harder to
         swallow than you think
Some people get lucky, if only for a night
Then wake up to misery, not love at first sight

Chorus  They don't know I'm more inspired, the day
         after in bed
When I come to my senses, and realize what
          I said
         If I could've--if I would've--if I didn't or if I did
I tried to find a mate, in a drunken state
         I shoulda stayed home insead

Chorus  And that's when I'm inspired, the day after in bed
When I come to my senses, and realize what I said
        If I could've --if I would've--if I didn't or if I did
I tried to find a mate, in a drunken state
        I shoulda stayed home instead

Verse 2  Up on my pedestal, or what others call a stool
I feel like a king, as I act like a fool
Tellin' the same story, to anyone with an ear
They nod their heads and laugh, but they can't
          even hear

Bridge  As I look around, I see the heads hung down
Wanna be swept off their feet, before they hit the ground...

Verse 3  The few that are slumped, up against the wall
Start diggin' for change, when they hear the last call
When I squint to see the clock, through my blood shot eyes
I try countin' down the hours, 'til the next sunrise

Chorus  Cause that's when I'm inspired, the day after in bed
When I come to my senses, and realize what I said
        If I could've--if I would've--if I didn't or if I did
I tried to find a mate, in a drunken state
        I shoulda stayed home instead
