SENSE
a whimsical
poem about fleeing temptation
|
|||
I've got less sense than a duck faced
with a hunter She honks to her kids and flies away And lives to fish another day Yet I try to stop the shoguns bullet And find that I’m no match for it If I had the sense God gave a duck Maybe I'd have just a bit more luck Instead of simply relying on his grace I try too hard and fall down on my face Who’s smarter than I? Well, why don’t we consider the ant? Though he will go on the attack, When he knows he’s beat, he’ll head on
back I tried to face down the devil He didn't flee Child,
resist the devil... Jesus says to me I jumped into temptation And it tossed me in its waves When it got done with me I had one foot in the grave If I had the sense God gave a duck Maybe I'd have just a bit more luck But instead of simply relying on his
grace I try too hard and fall down on my face Next time I’m in too deep, I’ll run to Him and find my rest Though my instinct is to fight I won’t put God’s patience to the test |
