Auto Suction If you have read my page before, you will know that what is cold air intake. I took a step further when I've added in a another source of cold air inlet serving the car with cooler air even when it's STATIONERY! Wonder what is it, right?
Installation It's simple, when I changed my filter to open pod, I get an opening of the original filter hole from the bumper whereby the original sucks air in from. I've added in a small fan (from PC power supply fan) to the opening to suck air in. I know the cold air intake works but it's only effective when the car is in motion (pushing air in from the inlet at the bottom). But what if it's traffic jam? The heat sheild compartment becomes hotter. So with this, the fan will sort of vantilate the heat shield area to make it cooler with air from the side bumper like the original filter's source. Cool isn't it?
Improvement I don't get much improvement during standstill acceleration eventho I am expecting some. But I can feel that the car is so much lighter during hot days because now, I have 2 source of cold air. One from the auto-suction and another one from the first cold air intake. I believed the heat shield compartment is much cooler now.
Caution Many asked me how to connect the wire to get the power souce. Well, I tapped it from the screen wiper motor but beware, do not simply do if you do not know which wire to tap from. It might cause serious damage especially when your car uses an ECU. When the ignition is turned to ACC, the fan will operate.
Check out the picture below to see how this fan is installed. |
