DEER HUNTING REPORTS 2002 pg.2
Nov. 3 & 4 2002-Greene Co.
Hunted out off of Fairgrounds Rd. again and both days I had to wait for a doe and a couple of yearlings to leave the bean field in the morning so that I could make my way to my stand.  On the 4th I saw one small buck.

Nov. 4-7 2002-Hocking Co.
Went down to Hocking Co. with Craig. Only saw one little buck the whole time, no does.  Craig saw a few deer while he was walking around.  We should nave seen more movement.  This is the week that the rut starts.

Nov. 8 2002-Greene Co.
Did not see a thing out off Fairgrounds Rd.

Nov. 9-11 2002-Scioto Co.
Went down to Scioto Co. with Piff.  We did not see a thing until the last morning the 11th.  I had a doe and two yearlings walk towards my stand while another deer trailed them from behind.  I was hoping that it was a buck but as it turned out it was another doe.  All four eventually ended up in front of my stand about 20 yards away.  They made their way across the pasture and joined up with three other deer that came down the hillside across from me.  Through my binoculars I could see that one of the three was a little buck and he chased one of the does off into the woods.

The other deer made there way towards Piff who was siting by the pond.  Eventually one of the deer, a button buck, made its way to the pond and jumped in!  Piff said that it was just a splashing and playing around in the water.  It finally got out and went up the hill and bedded down.

Soon after that a 6 point buck appeared in the area where I first saw the 4 deer earlier.  I thought that he would pick up the does trail and come my way but he didn't.  I tried to grunt at him but the roar from a nearby train drowned out my sounds!

Nov. 12-16 2002-Greene Co.
On the 12th I had a small high racked 4 point buck by the stand and later a yearling came by.  On the 13th a doe and a yearling came across the bean field and slipped up the hillside and came out on the open where I was set up.  At this stage of the game I was going to take a doe since I wasn't seeing to many deer.  As the first of the two came into range I couldn't tell if it was the bigger one of the two so I wanted for the second one to come into view.  As it turned out the first one was the doe and by the time I figured it out she was out of range!  They eventually went back down to the bean field at dusk and joined up with a few other deer that came out into the field.  I could not see if any of those deer were bucks.  The 14th, 15th and 16th I didn't see a deer!

Nov. 17-19 2002-Hocking Co.
Craig and I went back down to Hocking Sunday afternoon.  We carried up his ladder stand and set it up just below the ridge between the campsite trail and the "highway" trail.  Craig stayed in the stand while I climbed back down the hill to go set up my stand on the opposite ridge.  By the time I carried up my stand it was to dark to hunt so I left it there for the morning and went back down and waited for Craig.

When Craig showed up he informed me that about 15 minutes after I left 5 deer came by him and hung around for awhile.  Two were young bucks with small racks and the others were does or yearlings.  He didn't want to shoot the small bucks so he pasted up the opportunity.

Monday morning one of the small bucks showed up again and Craig also had turkeys around him.  When he tried to get a better look the turkeys busted him and took off.

That was about all the action.  We left Tuesday afternoon.  I didn't see a deer for the day and a half!  I HAVEN'T SEEN MANY DEER ALL YEAR……..!!!
