Management of HCV infections is difficult, as the routine diagnosis of HCV infections is non-existent in most diagnostic laboratories.
The infections which HCVs produce are generally minor upper respiratory tract infections which are not life-threatening and therefore no special management is required.
No antiviral drugs against Corona viruses have been developed.
However, vaccines for certain Corona viruses are available, such as for IBV in the form of attenuated IBV strains.
Work is proceeding at a number of centres to produce genetically engineered vaccines to a number of animal Corona viruses, including IBV and TGEV.
