!!! !!! !!! 22.07.05: BRAND NEW "SUNDAY VELVET" @ WWW.THEGODMACHINE.NEW.FR !!! !!! !!!

27.06.05: added a new review of "one last laugh in a place of dying..." by julian pemberton.

22.06.05: hello ! a few days ago, i decided to make a myspace profile dedicated to THE GOD MACHINE...

... what is myspace ? the main concept is very interesting: some extremely famous artists have their own profile and blog in order to promote, share their music and be in touch with their fans... but the nicest thing is that small indie bands can do the same as well... actually, it's totally free and friendly. most at all, you can always discover new great music !

well, thanks to several people who suggested it to me, this idea of a TGM's profile slowly became more concrete... and now you have it:

http://www.myspace.com/thegodmachine

this is a tribute page where you can add a comment (if you belong to myspace's "community" - sorry, this is the only "deal" but it's easy to make a profile). the brand new thing is that you can listen to four songs ("home", "ego", "in bad dreams" and "the devil song"). here, no need to belong to myspace ; just click on the songs ! actually, i think "sunday velvet" really missed something like an audio page. now, it's done with myspace. i hope you will like THE GOD MACHINE's profile...

otherwise, there is a new picture of "lost weekend" lp with autographs. and finally added playlists.

thanks for checking in. be well !

08.04.05: pictures by peter austin

"On the photos front, TGM is Tomas Garrigue Masaryk (1850-1937) a leading campaigner for Czech independence both prior to and during World War One and was Czechoslovakia's first President with its creation at the close of the war. The photo was taken just opposite the main gates of Prague castle. If you ever go back to Prague the EGO restaurant is just opposite of FC Bohemians football stadium about 10 mins from city centre."

thank you ! ^_^

... added my "march 2005" playlist... take care !

18.02.05: thanks to fudge, there are two new pictures added in the "miscellaneous/8" section: two old t-shirts (featuring winnie the pooh and "ego"'s quote)... otherwise, i got a mail from robin lord: he "requested the God Machine peel session to be played on BBC 6 music's Jane Gazzo show, and they've said they are going to schedule it some time soon :)" so, let's wait and see... finally, added my "january 2005" and "february 2005" playlists. thanks & take good care of you !

16.01.05: thanks to wouter (and ebay), there's a new sampler added in the "compilations/promos" section: the record's called "pure flood" and it was released by polygram in 1993. well, you can find a bigger picture here. also updated the "thanks" page... cheers !!! ;-)

05.01.05: hello ! happy new year !!! well, it's time to update a bit:

---> peter austin kindly sent me another review: 09.11.91 - jericho tavern, oxford ---> thanks a lot ! <---

---> otherwise, here is something quite special: wouter berteloot (www.sophiamusic.net) helped me to find some informations about the strange lyrics you could often hear at the end of "ego" when it was played live... so, for those of you who still wonder, actually, the "truth" seems to be among the following words:

Cottleston, Cottleston, Cottleston Pie,
A fly can't bird, but a bird can fly.
Ask me a riddle and I reply:
"Cottleston, Cottleston, Cottleston Pie."

Cottleston, Cottleston, Cottleston Pie,
A fish can't whistle and neither can I.
Ask me a riddle and I reply:
"Cottleston, Cottleston, Cottleston Pie."

Cottleston, Cottleston, Cottleston Pie,
Why does a chicken, I don't know why.
Ask me a riddle and I reply:
"Cottleston, Cottleston, Cottleston Pie."

A.A. Milne from Winnie-The-Pooh

---> last but not least, you should absolutely check the following site... www.sundayvelvet.net

"The name Sunday Velvet is drawn from a Robin Proper-Sheppard song , the guy from The God Machine and Sophia. Here is thus an acknowledged and asserted influence... Sunday Velvet is a project at the crossroads of rock and american folk music. However there are many other universes which I draw from : Martyn Bates, Rozz Williams, Bluegrass, Curve, Carmine, Daniel Darc, etc." - Bruno Bernard

---> cheers !!! <---

12.12.04: added my "november 2004" and "december 2004" playlists.

31.10.04: THANK YOU to robin, the whole SOPHIA family and THE ALBUM LEAF as well for the wonderful night in basel (ch).

27.10.04: a sad day for all music lovers - JOHN PEEL died...

THE GOD MACHINE recorded a john peel session (29.05.92): i’ve seen the man - prostitute - it’s all over (modified "tour" page).

DC let me know there's a link to a tribute web page: beatfactoryrecords austin would like to share a memory and a song with everyone who will remember the famous DJ...

bbc - radio 1 - john peel

26.10.04: finally added 1992 review (old trout, windsor) and a great picture ("live/7"). thank you peter ! otherwise, slightly modified the "tour" page and added my "october 2004" playlist.

08.10.04: added 1992 tour dates. actually, THE GOD MACHINE toured with NICK CAVE when they released "the desert song" ep... there is also a rare promo black beanie hat (!) on the "miscellaneous/8" section. all these items were taken from ebay. otherwise, i'm still waiting for a review who belongs to peter austin: coming out soon. last but not least, i would like to thank sharkey for his kind email. you know who you are. we still believe...

... i'm sorry, i still have some difficulties with the "pictures" page... you know, i'm not satisfied with the general look of this page and i'm seriously thinking about changing it completely. i'll probably have to build a kind of "mini-site" only dedicated to GOD MACHINE pictures or something like that. and i need time to rearrange all the stuff... i hope i'll manage to modify everything properly in a near future... of course, "sunday velvet" is very DIY. and i sincerely apologize for not being a specialist in "computer science"... otherwise, also added my "march 2004" playlist... take care ! rock'n'roll ;-) ! bye !

28.01.04: wouter's site, "an intimate site with SOPHIA", got its final (! ;-) !) domain name: www.sophiamusic.net ... of course, the "links" page has been updated. thanks to DC (... nice mail, thank you !) and wouter, here are some news from ron austin, GOD MACHINE's drummer... words by DC:

"Ron Austin was involved with a film called "Three Days" (http://imdb.com/title/tt0238662/) that was completed in 1999. Austin also has been reported to have moved back to California. I have been in contact with one of the film's actors who has informed me of the following: ". . . The last I heard circa. 1999-2000, Ronald Austin had moved back to California to try and continue his film-making career . . . I haven't seen any of the film that I was involved in. The other director of the film, Andrew Hill (English), split with Austin and produced the film without Austin and cut my character's story out of it! Hence my desire to see the rushes, which apparently only Austin has got . . .""

words by wouter:

"The video for 'Oh my love' (SOPHIA) was filmed in Vienna, and sees Robin reunited with his former God Machine colleague Ron Austin, who directed it."

12.01.04: ... the new SOPHIA, "people are like seasons", is B R I L L I A N T...

---> THANK YOU robin !!! <---
