:::PROFILE:::
After a trail ride in Jasper in the summer of 1998, I was hooked on riding. I convinced my best friend, Laura Urbanowski, to start taking riding lessons with me. We started taking novice lessons once a week- Beau was the first horse I ever rode in a lesson (who I later leased for two years). We later started taking lessons twice a week, riding different lesson horses. We started working for Tanya for a few summers as grooms (which was amazing experience) and our "payment" that year was free riding. I got to ride a wonderful mare named Champagne who I will never forget. Not only did we win my first red ribbon at my

first show away from Shadyvale, but we really bonded and we grew to be good friends, both excited to see eachother whenever I called her name. Because of complications with half-leasing her, Laura and I eventually started looking for our own horses to lease- I started leasing Beau Ideal, Tanya's horse, in August of 2000. In the summer of 2001, we took the horses to our first horse trials at Alhambra Stables in Red Deer: in the spring event, Beau and I placed 3rd in our Starter division, and in the fall event we placed 6th in our Pre-training division. That was the best summer of my life, not only because of the fun I had with Beau, but because of the friendships I developed that year (I don't think my face has recovered from laughing so hard!). I had so much fun doing eventing but decided that I wanted to work harder on my dressage and dedicated the winter to it. I enjoyed it so much that I continued focusing on dressage through the summer and bought my first horse, Chloe, as a six year old in August of 2002. Even though I had an amazing and invaluable experience with Beau, I needed a new challenge. Tanya and I worked hard all winter with her, and in the summer of 2003, we started showing Training Level 1 &2 at schooling shows and ended up showing the entire First Level at Amberlea Meadows in August. She is such a sweet horse and I have really enjoyed her- she has helped me improve my riding skills as well as build my confidence. I plan on continuing to work on dressage in the future. I hope to keep Chloe and have my kids ride her some day!
