I started riding at age 2 at my Nana and Papa's acreage. They had a few horses, and one of them sort of became mine- a tiny Arab cross mare named "Kendala" or "Kenny" for short. I rode her up until two years or so ago. She was put down last winter because she had cancer.

Last July my Nana and Papa bought me my own horse, Fancy Fire, an 18 year old Morgan gelding. Fire and I had a lot of fun learning together until the middle of September, when he was kicked in the pasture by another horse and broke his leg. The vet told us that we could put him on stall rest, but there was a chance we would have to put him down. So, we put him on stall rest at Shadyvale for a few weeks, then moved him to my Nana and Papa's acreage. He fortunately recovered and I still occasionally ride him at the acreage. I rode lesson horses for a while, until Tanya introduced me to Arky, a five year old thoroughbred gelding. I got him for a great deal- he was going to be sold in the States for ten thousand but they realized he had a back problem that limited him to jumping up to four feet. I tried him for a week or so and fell in love with him, even though we started off really slow. His previous owners sold him to me for one dollar and seven cents. That was probably the best day of my life! So far Arky has really improved- we are now doing 2'6 courses with the odd 2'9 jump thrown in. He is an awesome horse that with a bit of work has turned into the perfect horse for me.
