This is the fun part ... there are all sorts of different options and different things you can do with this program. I'm only going to explain what I do. Trust me it is easier this way. :)
1. Open up TMPGEnc
2. Click on "Browse" by the video source and open the .D2V file you created with DVD2AVI
3. Click on "Browse" by the audio source and open the .WAV file you created with DVD2AVI
4. Once again click on "Browse" this time for your output file. I'll go ahead and explain this part now. When you make a VCD
my way to be compatiable with many stand alone DVD players you can only fit
80 minutes on to one cd (or 74 minutes depending on your disc). I've used Imation and Memorex
80 Minute disc's and they have worked fine in my Pioneer DV-535 DVD player. So because of this alot of
times you need to split the movie in half. So when you set your first output file make the name of it have "part 1" or "disc 1"
or some variation so you'll be able to tell your two files apart.
5. Click on "Settings" and goto the "Advanced" tab
6. Double click on "Source Range" and the bar for the video somewhere into the middle of the movie to cut it. Try to find a spot where the scenes
are changing that way you will not have to change the discs right in the middle of a sentance or scene. Once you are there click on "Set end frame"
and make sure that the end frame changes and that your start frame is zero. Remember your end frame becasue this is
what you want your start frame to be for the second file. It should look a little
something like this.
7. Isn't this all sorts of fun? Anyway, go ahead and click ok and it will bring
you back to the main screen. Now click on "Load" next to the "Setting" and "Save"
tabs. Basically this is going to load a template for you that will adjust every
other setting just the way you want them for what we are doing. Of course there
are lots of templates you can find to do different things. The one we are concerned
about is the "VideoCD (NTSC).mcf" template. Open this one. I havn't ever used it but in case your
video source is pal I suppose you would want to choose the PAL template. Anyway open up
this template and lets proceed.
