A Friend
There was a shot from the darkness
The bullet sliced the air
Hit my friend in the chest
Blood everywhere, splattered on my face
I catch my friend as he falls
The look on his face is terror
I spin around to look into the darkness
Deep from the darkness comes a flash
Then another, and another
The slug hits me in the shoulder
Spinning me around
The second shatters my spine
The third caught me in the leg
I fell to the ground, blood in my mouth
I look towards my friend
His eyes are closed, he looks peaceful
I hear the sirens off in the distance
Its to late, I close my eyes
All I see is eternal darkness
Goodbye to a Friend
Standing in the darkness, the clouds covering the sky.
Suddenly a pain in my heart, a smirk on my face.
Clouds give way to let the moon shine down.
The cold steel sliding from my chest, oozing slowly.
I look up to see a face staring back at me.
A look of shock, a look of horror, a small smile.
He laughs coldly, telling me it was meant to be.
Dropping to my knees, my face awash in the light.
Whispering as I fight for my breath, "Why?"
Hearing footsteps coming close to me, "It was meant to be"
A hand across my face, wiping away my tears.
"Why?" I think over and over.
I close my eyes, not before he speaks again.
"Goodbye My Friend, see you soon!"
The clouds cover up the moon, as if the scene never happened.
Away he walks in the night, knowing what he did was right.
