taken from the Dotmusic chat on the 24th of March 2000

Welcome to the dotmusic chat with Westlife

Dotmusic: Okay, we're just about to start the chat - sorry for the slight delay...

fen_fen from indonesia asks: hello westlife!! how was your St. Patrick's Day?

Shane: Very good. we weren't in Ireland we did Blue Peter and it was good fun and had a couple of fizzy pops.

Karen from Singapore asks: Some of us older fans (30+) usually get insulted when we say we are Westlife fans, what do you think of that?

Shane: We don't mind. Some people don't like it when you're older but that's not from us. It's about the music.

Ashlie-Jayne from London asks: Do you keep everything fans send you?

Dotmusic: Whoops, sorry about that - stick with it and the boys will be back in a few minutes...

Iris from SP asks: What was the worst joke that you've played on each other? and Who started it?(hi shane!)

Shane: Our tour manager had a new Rolex and we took it off his wrist while he was asleep on the plane.

Michelle from Singapore asks: Which video have you enjoyed filming the most so far?

Bryan: Three days 'If The Let You Go' in the sun in Teneriffe. Three days work and three days working on the tan - it was great

Shaida from England/Hull asks: did you all wear contact lenses in flying without wings vid?

Bryan: Nobody did it was just the lighting. None of us have ever worn contacts

Pamela from Sweden asks: Hi Westlife....how are you....Is it right that you don´t can get married before your 21 birthday??

Bryan: No. That's definitely not true. Just a myth.

Louise Anderson from Denmark asks: Do you have a favorite country, to perform in?

Bryan: Ireland our home country - it's great to perform. Outside Ireland it would be Northern Ireland

Tina from Hong Kong asks: in your last Asian tour, which country's fans you think is the most craziest?

Bryan: Indonesia - they were all crazy but Indonesia they were all crazy

Ashlie-Jayne from London asks: Is Ronan as serious as he's made out to be?

Bryan: No he 's actually a very fun guy. He comes across serious but he's a nice guy - a good laugh.

Tenna from Denmark asks: How do you decide who is going to sing what part of a song, and who gets to sing lead vocals?

Bryan: Left up to the songwriter or the producer. We never have arguments about it - whoever is picked is picked.

Angelique from New Zealand asks: what's the most foolish thing you have done to make a girl like you (NOT THAT YOU NEED IT!! :)

Bryan: Don't know. I can't think of anything.

Daphne from Holland asks: When was the first time you realized you were a popstar?

Bryan: I don't think we ever felt that. We don't think like that we're just normal guys doing jobs.

Lisa from Sweden asks: What do you think about 5ive?! I've heard that you hate them.

Kian: Hello Sweden. We don't hate them at all. It was a story in the press but it was all untrue. It was blown up. We know them quite well and we like what they do.

Cinderella from Finland asks: Have you ever had a crush on a fan??

Kian: Yes I have. Quite a few actually. There's fans that we meet and they've very nice people. 70% of them I would have no problem taking them out on a date. I have dated a fan before.

Thomas Dunning from Chicago,Iillinois USA asks: Did you have a good time at the G.A.Y Astoria gig? I wish I coulda been there, but alas I'm on the other side of the planet.

Kian: Yes we did it was fantastic. The audience received us very well and we look forward to doing it again. Very loud audience.

Katelyn from Barrington, Rhode Island, U.S.A. asks: Kian- what song do you enjoy singing live?

Kian: 'Can't Lose What You Never Had' - I sing bass on the tracks and the bass is very prominent on that song. It's really funky for me to sing.

Samantha from Malaysia asks: kian, what is your fave rock band ?

Kian: Metallica and Bon Jovi and Guns N Rose - hello Malaysia we're coming there in four weeks to do a tour and we're really looking forward to that.

Christine from Denmark asks: What is the most embarrassing thing you´ve ever done on stage?

Kian: When I was 15 I recited a comedy poem and I knew it but I'd forgotten it. I wrote it out and half way through the poem I started reading it and then got stuck and took over a minute to find my place in the poem.

Nina, Helle, Challe from Sweden asks: How are you going to celebrate your birthdays?

Kian: We'r4e going to be in America at the time so me and Bryan will have a joint party - hopefully we'll be in LA - always a great night

Jeanette from Norway asks: do someone in Westlife smoke??

Kian: No. Not at the minute- one of the boys did a year ago but he's given up. You can't smoke with what we do it would destroy your voice. Thanks for everyone for hanging on, sorry we couldn't answer all the questions we'll see you all soon and we love you all..
