Howie Dorough grew up in Orlando, Florida- the hometown of most of the other Backstreet Boys. Through elementary school, he attended Fern Creek Elementary School. He went to Winter Park Junior High School after that, and then to Edgewater High School, near Downtown Orlando. He attended University in Tampa where he went to study for an arts degree. He would sing in talent shows, choirs, and other things to show off his great voice and experience. His first stage appearance was in the school play, "Wizard of Oz" with his sister at age 7.

He, A.J. and Nick began to notice that each of them went to all of the talent shows, productions, etc. with their singing voices. The three got together and started a small group. Then through a mutual friend, they met Kevin, through Kev they met Brian, etc. etc. etc. Read more about that here.

Howie owns a Himalayan Silverpoint cat named Christopher along with a Pekingese dog named Oscar. He loves to be with his family; every chance he gets he calls them just to chat.

Something tragic has just recently happened in Howie's life, though- his sister, Caroline, has died from Lupus. Since the tragedy Howie has been receiving countless sympathy cards and whatnot, but what he really wants is a donation to the Caroline Lupus fund- I will get the address for you as soon as I can find it.
