Guidance Class
Freshman Guidance class course
       curriculum

       This course primarily focuses on
       orientation to high school, improving
       study skills and dealing
       with teen issues. The study skills aspect
       includes areas of note-taking,
       concentration, memory
       building, test-taking strategies,
       preparation for standardized tests and
       especially makes students
       aware of the need for study skills in
       order to achieve good class
       performance. Some of the teen
       issues covered in class are drug and
       alcohol use and abuse, violence, peer
       pressure,
       racism/prejudices, smoking, self-esteem,
       sexual harassment, communication with
       parents, etc.
       Videos and role-playing are used to
       enrich the course.
