As Nick approached the door to his bedroom, he heard Brian sobbing, mumbling to himself about how he had screwed things up. He placed his hand on the doorknob and slowly opened the door. The room was dark except for numerous candles that were lit around the room. It struck Nick as odd, but it was probably Kevin’s idea for his birthday to have some lady up to the bedroom for his present. He stared at Brian for a moment, he was lying on his stomach, his head buried in a pillow, his body convulsing with each sob. His head rolled over facing the window, away from Nick. “ I’ve… lost … him…” Brian cried, tears falling down his reddened face, one hand gripping onto the pillows, the other hand clutching his ‘Frick’ hat. As Nick stood in the doorway tears began to fall down his face. He moved towards the bed, positioning himself behind Brian. Brian jumped as he felt the presence next to him, Nick’s strong arms wrapped around him, his body close behind him. Nick placed his head on Brian’s shoulder, “Baby…you could … never… lose me…” Brian turned around to face Nick, tear stained eyes staring back at each other. Brian placed his arm around Nick’s waist, pulling him close. “ I’m so…sorry Nick. I never meant to hurt you…I just wasn’t ready…But I love you more than anything…and I’m ready for anything as long as we’re…together.” Brian’s voice was shaky, the cries buried in this throat. “Bri, I love you…no matter what. And I’ll be here…with you…always.” Brian’s hand brushed the side of Nick’s cheek, clearing away the tears that had fallen. Their foreheads pressed against one another, their mouths only inches apart, their eyes staring back at one another, gazing at each other with tremendous love, Brian closed the space, pressing his lips against Nick’s. His kiss was soft and tender at first, the sensation of Nick’s sensuous lips grazing his own sending shivers down his spine. Brian slightly gasped at this, letting Nick deepen the kiss, his tongue entering Brian’s mouth. Nick’s hand gripped on to the back of Brian’s neck, pulling him closer, letting his mouth devour him completely. Brian’s arms wrapped around Nick, holding him close, afraid of ever letting him go again. They continued to kiss, their tongues mating with each other’s. Holding each other closely, Brian broke the kiss slowly, kissing Nick softly, lovingly. “Baby, just hold me…never let go.” Brian whispered, burying his head into Nick’s shoulder, his arms wrapped around Nick’s waist, holding on tightly. Nick’s arm held onto Brian as his other hand stroked his blond curls. “I love you.” He whispered as he watched Brian fall into a deep sleep. After watching Brian’s angelic face, quietly breathing and dreaming, Nick fell asleep, satisfied that he had everything he had ever wanted, Brian’s complete love. Both emotionally tired from the past week, they slept until everyone from the party had left.

Howie ran over to where his friends had been standing. “ AJ, what’s going on? Is Nick OK? Where the hell did Kevin go?” Howie asked. “They’ll all be ok D. Kevin has some issues to deal with but I think Brian and Nick are going to be just fine…Meanwhile, I think you have some issues that you have to resolve yourself.” Howie turned his eyes to where Melissa was sitting, discussing the recent events with Rhonda and Katrina. “She really hurt me AJ…” “I know, but you also know how much you care about her…enough to find out what went wrong, right?” Howie looked back at AJ and without a word they both headed over to the girls.
“I hope everything is ok with Nick.” Melissa said. “But I think he’ll be fine.” “Well Miss, I think you have other things to worry about now…” Rhonda said, seeing that AJ and Howie were heading towards them. AJ winked at her, as she caught his eye. She smiled back at him, her face blushing. “You need to find out what happened.” Katrina said. “ I know, but I don’t think he would really care. He obviously didn’t care enough to want to talk to me again after that night.” Melissa said, her thoughts returning to the pain that she had felt ever since that night, missing him, and knowing that it was his choice for her to be in such pain. “Well now is your chance to find out.” Melissa looked up and saw Howie standing above her. AJ and Rhonda were still smiling back at one another. “Can I talk to you in private?” Howie asked cautiously. “I suppose.” Melissa replied as she followed him to the front door. She looked back at her friends, Katrina had left, probably to find out what happened to Kevin, and Rhonda and AJ had moved to the balcony, both of them smiling at each other as they talked. |
