I visited Prague and other locations in the Czech Republic in 1996 during my big European trip. Conveniently situated in the main square of the Stary Mesto (Old Town), This gorgeous astronomical clock dates back to the medieval period, and is one of the many must-see attractions in Prague. |

A detail of another must-see Prague site, the John Lennon wall, which is covered with grafitti. In the past, the messages were political in nature, but those bad old days are long past. I liked this bit. The local hero, and symbol of the old order, writer Franz Kafka, surrounded by the jumbled remnants of a more troubled time in Czech history. The word "slunce" is Czech for "sun". Very apropos. |

An interesting shot of the beautiful detailed shingle work of a Czech church. This one happens to be in the former royal complex of Hradcany Castle across the river from the old town. Hradcany is the official residence of the President of the Czech Republic (although he has never actually lived there.) |
