This poem has a story and a preface:

There is a christian song titled "Thank You", performed by Ray Boltz. If you have never heard the song you cannot fully get the meaning of my poem. In the chorus of that song it says:
"Thank you, for giving to the Lord.
I am a life that was changed.
Thank you, for giving to the Lord.
I am so glad you gave."
My poem is dedicated to Kathy and Dennis Rejcek, this song was the inspiration and the preface.

Thank You

When I heard this song it made me cry.
The life you touched and the reasons why.
By your gift of love and joy and grace,
Sharing the news of Jesus and a hug's embrace.

You touched his life with your words and deeds
And he accepted Jesus to fill his needs.
By touching his life you gave peace to my heart
But that was not all, just a small part.

The Lord used your gift to do much more
Your love was the key to another door.
The door to my heart that was opened wide
When I also asked Jesus to come inside.

Now when I mourn for my baby who's gone,
It is Jesus that gives me strength to go on.
I can rejoice in knowing that my baby is safe
In the arms of the Lord he has found his place.

Some day standing before the Lord,
Great in heaven will be your reward,
For the gift of love given by you
Touched not just one life, but two.
