THE CHINESE BELIEVE THAT IF YOUR ENERGY OR QI (CHI) IS FLOWING SMOOTHLY AND UNIMPEDED THROUGH ALL YOUR MERIDIANS, THEN YOUR BODY IS IN HARMONY AND BALANCE AND EVERTHING WORKS WELL, RESULTING IN OPTIMMUM HEALTH. IF THE ENERGY IS BLOCKED OR INTERRUPTED, YOU HAVE A HEALTH PROBLEM RELATING TO THE AREA OF THE BLOCKAGE. IF ENERGY STOPS FLOWING, THIS RESULTS IN UNCONSIOUSNESS AND IF CHI FLOW CEASES PERMANENTLY THEN DEATH RESULTS. TAI CHI AND QI GONG EXERCISES ARE MANY AND VARIED WITH BOTH EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL FORMS (TAI CHI IS AN INTERNAL FORM OF QI GONG). BUT ALL HAVE THE SAME BASIC PPRINCIPLES. EACH EXERCISE IS DESIGNED TO STRETCH OR RELAX THE BODY, INCORPORATING DEEP BREATHING TECHNIQUES AS WELL AS STIMULATING ONE OT MORE OF THE MERIDIANS TO ENHANCE ENERGY FLOW AND BALANCE. AS ALL THE MERIDIANS ARE BROUGHT INTO HARMONY THE WHOLE BODY IS BALANCED LEADING TO GENERAL GOOD HEALTH. TAI CHI AND QI GONG ARE NOT JUST PHYSICAL EXERCISES BUT MIND EXERCISES AS WELL, THE BELIEF BEING THAT ONE CANNOT FUNCTON ADEQUATELY WITHOUT THE OTHER. DEEP CONCENTRATION IS REQUIRED WHILE PERFORMING THE EXERCISES WITH VISUALIZATION PLAYING AN IMPORTANT ROLE TOGETHER, THESE PROVIDE RELAXATION AND STRENGTHENING OF MIND AND BODY. MOST PEOPLE PRACTICE TAI CHI OR QI GONG FOR GENERAL HEALTH REASONS. 1. STRENGTHENING OF THE BODY. 2. PREVENTION OF DISEASE 3. HEALTH MAINTENANCE. 4. TO PROMOTE LONGEVITYY |

HEALTH BENEFITS OF TAI CHI and QI GONG. |
THE HEALTH BENEFITS ARE MANY, INCLUDING:- * ACTIVATION OF CHI FLOW. The meridians are stimulated and balanced. * STRENGTHENING OF INTERNAL ORGANS. As the exercises are performed, organs such as the liver and kidneys are massaged and stimulated leading to their improved functioning. * EXERCISE OF JOINTS AND MUSCLES. During these exercises joints and muscles are in constant use. which tends to keep them supple and prevent stiffening. This sems to be of benefit to arthritis sufferers, as the movements can be quite gentle but still provide adequate exercise. * BLOOD AND LYMPH CIRCULATION. it seems to have a beneficial effect on the circulatory system. As the body moves, especially the movement of the large muscles of the legs, circulation is assisted. This helps rid the body of toxins via the lymph system and also assists in taking nutrients and oxygen around the body via the blood. * BLOOD PRESSURE. The exercises appear to have a normalising effect on blood pressure, reducing it if it is high and and raising it if it is low. * RESPIRATORY SYSTEM. The deep breathing techniques of Tai Chi and Qi Gong have a beneficial effect on lung function with bronchitis and asthma sufferers reporting improvements in their conditions. * DIGESTIVE SYSTEM. is another area that appears to benefit from the practice Tai Chi and Qi Gong. No matter how good our diet or how much healthy food we eat, it will not be of benefit unless it is adequately absorbed and digested. Tai Chi and Qi Gong seem to help in strengthening the digestive system and so helping it perform its functioon in optimum fashion. |
