Wild Horses In Need, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to gentling and placing in good homes the older mustangs and  wild horses of Nevada.   The preservation and adoptability  of the older horses is our prime concern.    Statistics show that the older mustang is the last to be adopted, if at all, due to the level of skill needed to gentle them.    W.H.I.N.I.  provides the training needed to increase their desirability to the public. Imagine being able to walk up and get to know the animal you?re thinking about adopting instead of looking at a whole herd through a fence from a distance.   Wild Horses In Need, is attempting to change the face of adopting wild horses.   We are not the only adoption agent in Nevada, but we are the only facility in Nevada to specialize in gentling older mustangs for adoption.

Right about now you're probably wondering just how old these wild horses are right?   B.L.M.  and other agencies consider any horse over the age of 5 years to be older. W.H.I.N.I. uses that standard, but personally believes that older should mean 10 years or older.  We consider 5 years old to be  a prime age.  The myth that older mustangs are harder to gentle is usually only applicable to  the stallions who have managed to survive to age 10 or older or had existing mare bands when captured.

Wild Horses In Need has horses of all ages for adoption and at different levels of gentling,  but  we try to discourage adoption of the those older stallions to first time horse owners.
