Taking It Back

A friendly whirl
Through the field
of dandelions
Yellow bright
And the oak trees
Welcome our presence
As we remember the times
When things were not as they are
now under the scorching sun that
Hides itself behind it's
Billowy mother cloud
White as the cotton white
     dandelions under the oak tree
Floating away into non-existence,
Beginning a new life beyond
The presence of today
And looking for a tomorrow's
     New day
Of bitter-sweet kindness amongst
The cruel and unpredictable wind
     And we follow along
Laughing, singing, whirling
     Remembering the times
And hoping to find it again
Taking hold hands and running
Away
Against the wind
And past the oak tree
That shields the white dandelions
From the enemy we fight away
    As we remember the times
When things were not as they are now.
