APPLE PIE

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/8 teaspoon salt

3 tablespoons flour

6 cups sliced apples

1 to 3 teaspoons lemon juice

1 double-crust Pie Pastry (see pie recipe list/click on pastry pie crusts)

1 tablespoon butter or margarine

THE PROCESS:

1. Combine sugars, spices, salt and flour in a mixing bowl.

2. Add apples and lemon juice (amount depending upon tartness of apples); mix gently.

3. Line a 9 inch pie pan with pastry.

4. Add apple mixture; dot with the butter.

5. Cover with the 2nd pastry crust.

6. Slit the top, if you did not use the lattice design.

7. Bake in a very hot oven (450° F) for 10 minutes; lower heat and bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for 35 to 40 minutes longer.
