Perched high atop Baldwin Ridge overlooking Northern Virginia and the Nation's Capital beyond, Tanasea Shibas thrive in the clean country air and wooded grounds, in a climate similar to that of Japan... The bamboo here grows almost as fast as the puppies! With large individual runs in four separate sections (babies, youngsters, adults, and "the honeymoon suite"), all our dogs have daily access to two acres of fenced in "wilderness". They are natural hunters, but first and foremost, our loving companions. All our Shibas receive the BEST in care and love... If you can't spoil them (at least a little!) then why have them??? |

Our commitment to preserving and protecting this marvelous breed includes continual, educatedl evaluations of all our dogs before considering them to be of the high calibre we demand in our breeding stock. We believe in all necessary genetic screenings for our adult dogs before any prospective breeding, beginning no sooner than 2 years of age. Ideally, our brood bitches are champions first, then mothers. They are rarely bred more than three times, and never more than once a year or after the age of six. Perhaps our greatest success can be measured by the joy and comfort our retired champions have given their adopted owners in times of stress and poor health. Even just being a loving companion has brought happiness to many single professionals and retired couples and we are grateful for having had the chance to enrich their lives through the gift of love our Shibas bring them.
