| 06/25/2002 Tuesday 10:00 pm World Cup: Tomorrow's match 7:30 pm Brazil V Turkey, prediction: Brazil 2 Turkey 0 Brazil V Turkey: With Germany's victory over Korea, will it be Brazil or Turkey to meet the German's efficient and defensive machinery on Sunday? By current form, Turkey could spring a surprise as its midfielders, Basturk and Davala are in fine form. Basturk plays longside Michael Ballack in Bayer Leverkusen and is a great dribbler of the ball. He will give Roberto Carlos a tough time and if Carlos spends too much time prying the Turkish's part of the field, it may leave a defensive hole for Basturk to penetrate. Davala, with the Tomahawk hair style cuts his skill in Germany and plays like the Germans. He now plays for AC Milan and could be more than a match for Juninho or Kleberson as Ronaldinho is out from the red card of the England-Brazil game. However, defensively, Lucio, Edmilson and Cafu may prove a tough act for Hasan Sas and Iihan Mansiz. Denilson may come in as a half-time substitute and cause havoc when the Turkish players have run themselves out. With Ronaldo and Rivaldo doing the attack, Denilson's entry may be the answer to breaking down the Turks' defence which held well against the likes of Senegal and Japan. I would still like to see Edilson as a replacement for Ronaldo towards the end of the hour as he has the probing skills to dribble into the heart of the Turks. If he fails, then Luizao should do the trick as proven in the last game against Turkey. Again, if there is anything to seperate the two teams, it has to be individual brillance and that is abundantly found in the Brazilian team. Goals by the 2Rs is my prediction. Previous commentaries |
