NEWZ
Odds are Hip-Hop heads can't step into a club or tune into their local radio station without hearing Fat Man Scoop's recognizable voice. Now, Scoop is set to release "Inside Hip Hop"- the first of a series of DVD's that traces the hustle of rap's top executives.
Whether it's hosting his syndicated radio show or getting the party started with one of his vintage adrenaline rushed records, Scoop has been injected Hip-Hop with highly positive energy for quite some time. As he basked in the glory of his recent success, Scoop took time to speak with SOHH.com on low budget CEO's, praise the game's top execs and plug his forthcoming single. Inside Hip-Hop finds Scoop hosting interviews with Hip-Hop's premier executive including Baby, Lyor Cohen, Fat Joe, Damon Dash, Steve Rifkind, Kevin Liles and many more. "Everybody thinks they're a CEO. Ninety percent of the people that I meet on a regular basis give me a card that says CEO. Do you really know what CEO means? Are you just the CEO of your voice mail?" Scoop asked jokingly concerning his DVD's premise. "A lot of people don't get the idea of what it takes to be an executive. It takes understanding and vision to make that talent work."
Indeed CEOs have become as abundant as emcees lately. Yet, in telling his story, Scoop spoke only with CEO's who've made a massive impact in the Hip-Hop world. "We went to all the power players in the industry...Fat Joe, who knows how to run a company, Baby from Cash Money.... You see all the gold, but guess what this man is worth $115 million," Scoop revealed. "It turns into a pattern," Scoop added. "In the interviews with the top players we were getting similarities in all the stories. It's an instructional DVD." Aside from his new video release, Scoop is now enjoying a no.1 hit in the UK. "Be Faithful," Scoop's latest party starter just knocked out Black Eyed Peas' "Where's The Love," which previously sat on the top for six consecutive weeks. Scoop is also excited about his next single, "Put Me On," which also happens to be the title of his next DVD.
"The concept [for the DVD] came from my wife and her seeing all the people that come up to me asking to get put on. It's about not being put on, but doing what it takes to put yourself on," Scoop revealed. "The only people I've seen put themselves on in this game are Jay-Z and Dash from Roc-A-Fella. Dame Dash never asked me to put him on. He was asking how can he get his records to radio. Same thing for 50 Cent and Sha Money XL. Look at where they stand now off will power and courage alone." "Inside Hip-Hop" is in stores now.
