When the Walt Disney Company and the French government signed the EuroDisney contract, it was planned that a second themepark would be build in the near future. It was already known that this park would not be a new park, but a clone of one of the Walt Disney World parks. They finally choose for the Disney/MGM-Studios, because Europe had a great deal to do with the history of the movie and animation. Originally, the European version of the Disney/MGM-Studios would be opened in 1995, but since the first years of Disneyland Paris weren't as succesful as hoped, plans were delayed. But then the big word came out in 1999: Disneyland Paris was planning a second themepark. Soon we learned that they were going to call it "the Walt Disney Studios". A lot of the same attractions from the original park were copied, but the Walt Disney Studios also got there own new attractions. It's still in the first phase. But new attractions are being planned. Walt Disney Studios opened its gates on March 16 2002.

A new Studio 5 will shelter Crush's Coaster, a deepsea rollercoaster themed on the Disney/Pixar hitmovie "Finding Nemo". Across the ocean you will find the desert, where roaring engines will lead the way to Cars Race Rally. Art of Disney Animation, Carpets over Argrabah and Animagique will also get a whole new paint job to fit into this new studio.
In late 2007 a new centrepiece in the Walt Disney Studios will open its doors to the public once more: The Hollywood Tower Hotel a.k.a. "The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror"! With it's arrival Production Courtyard will be changed into Hollywood Studio to give a complete new touch to this area of the park.
