* October 16, 1998: The Walt Disney Company celebrates its 75 year aniversary. Disney Legends past and present are honored in the Disney Legends Plaza in Burbank. * November 18, 1998: Disney concludes its buy of 43% of Infoseek. * November 25, 1998: Second Disney-Pixar film, A Bug's Life, premieres. * December 20, 1998: The Lion King: the Broadway Musical premieres in Tokyo. * January 12, 1999: Go.com is born. * May 1, 1999: Mouseworks premieres. Bringing back all the classic characters on the tv-screen. * June 5, 1999: The Hunchback of Notre Dame-stage production premieres in Germany. * June 16, 1999: The second DisneyQuest opens in Chicago. * June 18, 1999: Tarzan premieres. * July 8, 1999: ABC Entertainment Television Group is formed out of the Walt Disney Television Studios, including Buena Vista Television Productions, and ABC's Prime Time Division. * July 12, 1999: Disney and Infoseek combines their Internetdivisions under the Go.com-name. Disney buys the rest of Infoseeks shares. * August 24, 1999: Disney sells Fairchild Publications, Inc. * September 24, 1999: The Lion King: the Broadway Musical premieres in London. * September 29, 1999: EuroDisney SCA announces the launch of its second themepark, Disney Studios Paris, scheduled to open in the spring of 2002 at the Disneyland Paris site. * November 3, 1999: Disney announces Hong Kong Disneyland which is due to open in 2005. * November 13, 1999: Disney and Pixar give us Toy Story 2, a sequel to the highly popular computer animated hit movie. This movie is even more popular and wins a Golden Globe for Best Comedy that year! |
