Mulan is the only child of the Fa family. She wants to bring honor to her family, but fails to do that during her visit to the matchmaker. Then the emperial guard arrive and give the order to Fa Zhou, Mulans's father. She tries to explain that her father isn't able to go into the army again, but her father wants to go to bring honor to the family. At night Mulan takes a big decision and dresses herself like a man and goes into army. Meanwhile the family ancestors have send a guardian after Mulan to protect her. They sended the great stone dragon, but Mushu (who is suppost to ring the gong) goes (after breaking the statue of the great stone dragon). Mushu and Cri-Kee help Mulan survive the hard army training given by Shang. When they are send to the front, they discover that the emperial army has been defeated by the Huns. They are the last chance for the emperor. Then they are attacked. The shoot the canons and save one. When the huns storm down a mountaintop, Mulan uses the canon to start and avalance. The Huns are defeated, but Mulan was also hurt. Then it is discovered that she is a woman. Shang leaves her there, because of her act.
After the amry has left, Mulan learns that a handful of Huns have survived the avalance and are planning to go to the emperial city. Mulan goes there to and tries to tell, but no-one listens. Then the emperor is seized by the Huns. A battle within the palace begins and Mulan defeates the Huns again with the help of Mushu and her friends from the army.
Afterwards the emperor gives her the sword of Shan-Yu the Hun and the emperial medal. Now she can bring honor to her father. But he is only glad that she is still alive. He thinks the greatest honor is having her as his daughter.
And Mushu......he has helped Mulan bring honor and therefor he has been signed a guardian again.
