The Yorkies
Desi And Shadow, and introducing Treasure!
We are Desi and Shadow - the little, barking, midget things. (that's what Tattoo thinks we are)  Actually, we are Yorkshire Terriers, to be exact!  Since I'm the bigger one, I'll do the talking for both of us!  I'm way over the "AKC Standard", but I'm still the prettiest Yorkie I've seen (except for Desi).  I'm all of10 pounds, which is twice as big as Desi.
My Mom wanted a little dog who she could take everywhere with her.  She even bought all kinds of fancy carrying bags for me.  Some have flaps, that can be be pulled down, to cover up the little windows I look out of.  They do that for a reason you know!  It's so us little dogs don't get our Mom's kicked out of stores because of us.  I used to go everywhere with my Mom - I helped her buy her motor home, fax machine, and a new clothes dryer.  I'm real good at finding deals!  I got too heavy for her to carry everywhere, so here's where Desi came in.
The Day Desi Came Home
Desi was about the size of a hamster when she came home.  At first, I was kind of afraid of her, but that only lasted a few days.  She was so cute - everybody wanted to steal her.  I think I might be her Mom, but shhhh - don't let our other Mom know that!
Desi is special to our Mom, because they were born on the same day.  Her real name is Destiny, which stands for "dis is tiny", and it was destiny that she was born on our Mom's birthday.
Mom And Desi At The Yorkie Specialty -1998
Desi has quite an impressive Pedigree!   She is related to a dog named "Reputation", who was in the "Toy Ring" at Westminster in 1998.  She even got to met his Mom, and Breeder, and she said that Desi Looked like she was a relative.  We don't look alike at all!  I am big, with long, thin, silver and blonde hair.  Desi has the thickest, straight, long, black hair that you've ever seen.  When we go out together - which isn't very often, we always get stopped by all kinds of people.  It's funny how even men seem to like us - I expect them to look the other way.  We look like such "Fru Fru" dogs, with our little pony tails, and bows.  Desi chewed my Top Knot off, so I can't wear bows anymore.  I got her back, and chewed hers off too - hehe!
I have a funny story to tell. about Desi, but, don't let her know that I ever said anything!  She's very camera shy, and this little incident might have pushed her over the edge.  It sure looked fun though, and if I was smaller, I wouldn't have minded if it was done to me too!
So - here's the story!  Our Mom was doing a Tattoo demonstration at a dog fair.  There were Police, with big, giant Police Dogs - kind of like Tattoo.  There was a booth with puppies being trained to be Service Dogs, and some puppies, who were being trained to be Guiding Eyes Dogs.  We always get to go along on these things, so we can show off our tattoos.
It was one of those days, where people came in droves, then it was quiet for a few minutes.  Desi was doing her usual "Pogo" thing, trying to get out of her X pen, when Mom was busy talking to somebody about tattoos,  I was just kind of hanging around, playing with Frankie - our Obedience Teacher's Border Collie (he's was my first crush).  I looked around, and Desi was gone.  I just knew that my Mom was going to freak out, so I started barking my head off.  I looked back up, and there was Desi, floating around in the air.  One of the Cops got bored, and tied about 20 helium balloons to her collar.  There were people falling on the ground, laughing at her.  The Cop who did it came over, and told us that he had some Yorkies at home, to keep his K9 Partner company.  I guess he must know enough about Yorkies, to trust Desi to let him tie her up to those stupid things!  While she was floating around, the other Cop came over, and told us that he also had Yorkies at home - what is it with these "Macho" guys?  I guess they know how well Yorkies and German Shepherds get along.
Obedience Class
Here I am in Obedience Class with my Mom.  That pretty, black and white dog is Frankie - he's my first love!  He belongs to Lori, our teacher, and he helps out with the new dogs in the class.  Luckily, I don't have too much competition!  I'm the only Yorkie in the class, and the prettiest girl too!
I didn't do to badly, for a little dog!  The guy who always walked in front of me had a big, nutty German Shepherd Dog.  Now that I think of it, I was kind of fickle - I liked him too!  I have a thing for dogs in Uniforms, I guess.  I sure do like my Tattoo, and just about every other GSD I've come in contact with.
We also have an Irish Water Spaniel, Echo, at home.  We can't get too close to her, because she's kind of nuts.  I don't think she'd try to hurt us on purpose, but she sure could do some major damage!  You can read about her, and Mom's other Irish Water Spaniels, on another page.
I will be adding new stories about Desi and me, just as soon as my Mom learns to do these pages without any help.

Desi's little sister, Treasure was born on St. Paddy's day, 2000 and came to live with us in May of 2000.  She will have her own page soon!
