OK, so you're ready to plan some quality time with that special someone. You're going to make him dinner, you've got the table set with the best china and flatware, white candles on the table, soft music in the background. What else do you need? You already know that a sure fire way to a man is through his stomach. It is also through his nose. (among many other non-G-rated ways.) Studies have been conducted, and it has been determined that there are certain scents that can enhance blood flow to certain areas of the body, to get him in that special mood. The most popular ones are lavender and pumpkin pie. Men who were used to their lady wearing cologne, and who enjoyed frequent activity were most stimulated by lavender, cola, and oriental spice. Men who felt satisfied responded most to strawberry. Older men felt more stimulated by vanilla. The scents of doughnuts and licorice also produced results. So, what can you do with this information? In the bedroom, you can scent the room with lavender. Make little lavender sachets and tie them with a ribbon. You can put them in drawers to scent your lingerie, or set a couple in a baskeet, or tie them from the bedpost, where it matters most. Here's a recipe for lavender sachet: 3 ounces lavender flowers 1 ounce powdered orrisroot (the element which keeps your lavender scent continuing to smell, and is readily available at apothecaries.) 4 drops lavender oil Yield 4 ounces (or enough to fill 4 sachets. In the kitchen, Here is a recipe for Sweet Wine Lavender Cookies To eat, here's a suggestion. Pour a glass of sweet dessert wine for him, slip a slice of fresh peach into the wine gblet, and feed him the wine soaked peach and let him nibble on the cookies, and you, and drink the peach flavored wine together. 1 C plus 1 1/2 TBSP all-purpose flour 1/3 C lavender sugar * a pinch of salt 4 TBSP butter 2 1/2 TBSP sweet white wine 12 leaves of fresh lavender, chopped finely Sift the flour, all but 1 TBSP of the sugar, and the salt into a bowl. Rub in the butter until the mixture resembles bread crumbs. Mix a well in the center and add the wine and the lavender leaves nad stir in gently. Leave the mixture for 10 minutes, stirring now and again, by which time it will have bonded together, then gather together to make a soft dough. Roll out the dough on a floured board about 1/8 inch thick and use a serated pasta wheel to cut out small strips, about 2 inches by 1 inch. Place on a buttered baking tray, giving one half of each strip a twist, as you do so to make the cookies look just like little bows. Bake at 375 for about 6-8 minutes or until edges are just turning brown. Cool on a wire rack and sprinkle with the remaining sugar. Lavender Sugar: Mix 2 TBSP of spikes of fresh lavender flowers or 1 TBSP of dried lavender flowers with 1 cup of superfine sugar. Select a glass jar and make alternate layers of sugar and lavender flowers until the jar is full. Cover tightly and leave in a warm, dry room for 1 to 2 weeks. Shake the jar through a sieve before use. This method is similar to the conventional method you use to make vanilla sugar.
