Welcome!
The Ford Taurus Transmission Forum (FTTF) was began in September 2002 by
Jeremy Heilman
(e-mail the author) to provide information to the community
of Ford Taurus, Windstar, Mercury Sable, and Lincoln Continental owners, and hopefully warn
potential used Taurus, Sable, Windstar, and Continental buyers.
Did you know that Ford may still be liable for the repair of defective parts,
even after the warranty expires? See the Legal section to learn about the laws that protect
consumers from the sale of garbage, and how courts have repeatedly found manufacturers liable for
their goods, regardless of warranty, point of sale, and many other bogus claims that they can cook up!
What the FTTF has to offer
- Legal advice on taking Ford to small claims court, including specific references to laws
and applicable landmark cases from well respected courts.
- Information on contacting Ford to demand recompense for damages.
- Technical data on the transmissions prone to failure.
- A place to share stories, suggestions, and tactics.
Special note to all Ford owners with headgasket problems:
Part of my effort to get the word out about defective transmissions has included browsing sites like
www.thecomplaintstation.com, where I have found a large number of Ford owners with headgasket trouble.
The headgasket is just a piece of rubber - it has no moving parts, calls for no maintenance, and should
operate under all conceivable conditions the planet has to offer. I have decided to add headgaskets as a
topic of discussion to the FTTF, but I need all the information you readers can provide. See the "Contributing"
section of this site to see how you can help get headgaskets added to the FTTF.
What can you do to help?
Contribute what you know! The more participation the FTTF sees, the more complete our
information becomes. This site will grow with every piece of input you give me!
If you own or have owned a Ford Taurus, Mercury Sable, Lincoln Continental, or Ford Windstar that had a
transmission failure, share your story! Anything and everything like the letters you wrote,
the replies you received, legal battles, and chats you had with your mechanic can potentially benefit
another in the similar situation. If you're a backyard mechanic, lawyer, or consumer rights advocate and
would like to offer suggestions of your own, then the FTTF is here to post your words!
