WHAT'S NEW!

To keep up with the rapid pace of change in my life I have added this new page to keep you abreast of the on-going sagas!

THE PRESENT
THE FUTURE  and beyond - April 2004

The Present:

TMy present home is the fabulous little rainforest mountain village of TULLAH on the shores of Lake Rosebery on the West Coast of Tasmania

The start to 2004 was  auspicious! My father passed away from Asbestosis Lung cancer on Jan 10 and then my beloved BJORN the black Labrador died just a few days later. Since returning to Tasmania in October i had been assisting my mother in nursing my Dad at home, so he could die with quality of life and dignity at home. We fullfilled his wish and his death was both painless and harmonious. Bjorn died at a grand age of 15 which in Dog years is over 100. I am now living back in my house on the West Coast of Tasmania slowly adjusting to a new life.

I moved back to Tasmania in August of this year from London UK.  The house had previously been bought  on the West Coast of Tasmania,  n Mid 2002.  Its in the small ex mining and hydro village of Tullah in an area of wonderful wilderness,  rainforest and mountains surrounded by national parks.

I  returned to Tasmania, for 3 months in January 2003 to redecorate the house and create a nice rainforest garden. Check out the page I have created with lots of pictures of this great beauty spot - Tullah Tasmania  The idea being that this will be a holiday house that we could visit or that family and friends could use. Below is a view  some 50 metres from the house we bought. With what has since unfolded, it is now my permanent home.

Sadly after i had been home in Tasmania for a few weeks I developed a range of dramatic neurological problems that made me quite ill, and was soon diagnosed with MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS. This is a life long chronic illness of the nervous system that is extremely unpredictable and debilitating and often degenerative. There is a range of medication that slows the progression of the disease and intensity of attacks that I will soon be again taking. I  returned to the UK in August 2003,  having recovered enough to travel to pack up to return permanently to Tasmania. The best thing for our future was for me to return to Tasmania for good. Here both the lifestyle and vastly superior medical care are much more conducive to my future health and well-being. My task now I am back in Tasmania is to try and stabilize my health and develop a more sustainable way of life with these new limitations put on my life.

The Future and Beyond :

At present the task before me indeed is enormous, in a few months I am now having to reinvent my life again in many ways. Not only has a massive geographic and cultural change been forced upon me, but my separation from my ex partner and diagnosis with the life-long Multiple Sclerosis verdict changed life forever for me. I am however a man that copes extremely well with chaos and change. It has in fact been the hallmark of my past, and my experiences of my life have trained me well for these challenging moments. I feel even more vindicated now for my nomadic past.

At present I am now redefining myself and my future. It is a slow process that requires patience as MS is not a disease that can be rushed, and its unpredictable nature means there is no standard course it will follow. For now the temperate and tranquil waters of Tullah will be a source of great peace and nourishment for me in simple and uncomplicated world. It is a wonderfully friendly supportive village of just 200 souls, very human and manageable in size. Planning the future is something that I am not able to do at the moment with any accuracy, but just enjoy the moments of now. Again I hope tosoon find another livelihood depending on what my physical condition will allow, and hopefully a man to share my life with again.

THE PAST

The Past till August 2003

Till my return to Tasmania I was living i in a tiny bedsit in down town central London close to the West End.. DEFINITELY a different experience for a nature lover/countryboy like me!  During this period I travelled to many wonderful places in Europe and had fantastic holidays in France and the Alps. I will be eternally grateful for this wonderful rich and unforgetable period in my life.  See the main index page for links to some of these adventures that I had in Europe.

During our period in the UK  we alas almost bought a nice Georgian country cottage outside the lovely town of Royal Tunbridge Wells in Kent south of London. Sadly due too a variety of reasons at 2 minutes to midnight the deal fell through! Here is a picture. Given all that has happened since this was a real blessing in disguise!

DECEMBER 2001

Well, after a brief  2 months living in Stuttgart Germany, after several jobs fell through in the Caribbean and Belize, I finally decided to take my chances to move to London for a while.

Harrods Village The Thames

After arriving with not a clue of what I was going to do, or where I was going to go.... a return even to Tasmania was on the cards... I had since settle into a job as a Security Guard at Harrods Village on the banks of the Thames.

 SCOTLAND.... and the separation

In October 2000  I  finally decided upon the destiny of my future. I was   able to land myself a permanent part time live-in job as Caretaker and Gardener in rural Argyll on the West Coast of Scotland some 35 miles from Glasgow working for two extremely nice bears, I moved to live on the Firth of Clyde  on the edge of the Highlands and Isles... . Below is a photo taken from the front of the house and view from my bedroom window! It is  such a delight to do this job... and I could not think of a better arrangement!!

Why the move ?

As from the middle of last  August, my 48 year old partner, Kerry and I  decided that we are to now go our own separate ways in life. This is very sad after nearly 5 yrs, but he felt  the need to return back to his native New Hampshire and to do it alone. That meant unfortunately giving up my Graphic Design course and allot more.  We have now gone through the process of disassembling our lives and the institution of "Us" that we have now built up. This is an ongoing thing even though we are now physically separated.  Part of this is selling the 100 yr. old Victorian house that we where  restoring  in Launceston  Tasmania. See the pic below of the house as it looks now and before!
