College of Lake County

111 North Genessee, Waukegan, Ill

Lakeshore Adult Education classes meet at a branch of the College of Lake County. The classes are made up of adults from many different cultures. Listed below are paragraphs written by the students telling you about their cities.

PARK CITY is on the southwest side of Waukegan. The town is one square mile in size. It has nice parks and good shopping. The schools are very good. There are many children in Park City.

NORTH CHICAGO has many different types of neighborhoods. There are many different cultures. There is a good bus service. We have a lot of children and good elementary schools. There are some economic struggles. For instance, we do not have many stores, but our community is working to make things better.

WAUKEGAN is a very nice city. The people are very nice. There are many different cultures from around the world. Waukegan has an excellent library that the students in class can use. It is across the street from our classrooms. The city is close to Lake Michigan and has many parks. Our school has the best teachers in town.

ZION is a small town that is about 125 years old. It is one of the oldest towns in Illinois. There are many positive things going on in town. There are special activities and learning programs for children. The city also has a new youth ministry sponsored by the Church of Joy for children and teenagers. Zion has a new park with a playground for children and an area for picnics. Zion has one of the largest swimming pools in the Chicago area.

We especially want to add a huge THANK YOU to the Lakeshore Campus resident Computer genius/guru/wizard, Mr. Brandon Taylor, without whose hours of assistance this project would not have been possible!! Thanks, Brandon!
