About Teach Zambia
Q:  Where is Zambia?
      A:
Zambia is Located in South Eastern Africa.  It is one of the only countries that has not encountered a civil war.  It is known for its abundance of wildlife and peaceful culture.

Q:  Why start a school in Mazabuka?
        A:
After visiting Mazabuka two times in three years, we decided that it was the place we wanted to live.  After my first visit to Mazabuka, I changed from wanting to be a police officer to becoming a teacher, simply because of the childrens' unique desire to learn.  I'm currently a seventh grade school teacher in the Dallas-Metroplex area, and feel that my talents and desires as a teacher are being taken for granted by both the students and educational system in Texas.  Moving to Zambia and starting a school for less fortunate, more motivated children is a dream and  desire that's fueling our organization.

Q:  How are your proceeds going to be distributed?
         A:
As of now, we are still in the planning and growing phase of our organization.  In Zambia, the daily income is less than one dollar! Any money raised by Teach Zambia will be well spent and go a very long way.  Short Term:  supplies such as paper, pencils, desks, grammar books, dictionaries, paper back novels, English workbooks, and Math books.  Long Term:  Expand the school from one room to two or three rooms, build a kitchen so children don't have to walk5-6 miles home for lunch everyday, supply electricity for the classrooms, bring running water to the school for drinking and cooking, and fnally  build a garden with proper irrigation.

Q:  Where do all the children live that attend the school?
        A:
The children live with their families in little comminty villages called compounds.  The school is for all the workers' children who live on Chilamba Vale Farms.  There are three compounds on the farm with approximatly 100 kids attending the school from all three compounds.  Most kids can only attend school for a half day, as they have to help in the compound and on the farm the remainder of the day.

Q:  What do you plan on teaching in the school?
         A:
Teach Zambia's Founder is an English teacher by day, and an Adult ESL/Civics teacher by night.  We plan on teaching EVERYTHING when we move to Zambia.  We'll primarily focus on English, Math, Agriculture, Health, and Cultural Studies.  Let's put something in perspective here:  Most of the children in Mazabuka are amazed by cameras.  A man in space is an idea only dreamed about,  and watching any television, let alone the 1,000 plus channels we get in the States, is far more than most children in Mazabuka will ever experience.  Therefore, we want to focus on topics and issues that will help them become better farmers, communicators, traders, and live life as it is given to them sucessfully.

Q:  I still have questions about your organization. Is there a way you can find out more?
      A:
YES! Email Teach Zambia and Iwe'll answer your questions and post them to this site for others to benifit from.
