-The Star 14/3/00 - Malaysia's output of motor vehicles soard 87% last year over the 161,700 units produced in 1998 exceeding even the output of vehicles in Thailand, Indonesia nad the Phillippines. According to International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz the growth was spurred by the government policy to enhance domestic demand through the relaxation of hire-purchase financing guidelines and extending repayment period for hire purchasing.
