The company said in a statement that its holding in Commerce Asset was at 12.95% at end-February.The Star 14/3/00 - Renong Bhd proposes to dispose of its entire stake in Commerz which is estimated to be able to raise RM1.637billion based on current market value. Net gain estimated at RM1.1billion. The Star 4/3/00 - Rating Agency of Malaysia Bhd (RAM) has put Hicom Holdings Bhd on ratings watch after the company announced plans to merge with its asscociates Gadek Bhd, Gadek Capital Bhd and Diversified Resources Bhd. To be placed under ratings watch are the BBB1 and P3 ratings on Hicom's RM950mil redeemable secured bonds and RM500mil Islamic note facility, RAM said in a statement. The Star 25/3/00 - For the year ended Dec 31, 1999, it recorded a 109% jump in group pre-tax prfot to RM80.1mil compared to RM38.4mil in 1998. Kenanga had received an encourageing response to its online share trading system, KenNet which was introduced in January 2000. The service had secured some 2,000 customers and KenNet had contributed about 15% in brokerage volume last month. The company now has over 100,000 customers in the traditional securities trading system served by its 550 remisiers and dealers. Stockbroking would be its main income contributor bringing in over 80% of the group's profit. The rest from rentals as well as from asset management and unit trust activities. Over 70% stockbroking revenue came from retailers. Earlier Kenanga had tendered for two securities firms from Danaharta namely WK Securities and Halim Securities and was further approached by three other stockbroking firms. "Our vision is to go ahead with online share trading in a big way. If we get a good partner, a strategic place and a good price, we will take it," said general manager Amrat Kaur. The Star 25/3/00 - OSK Holdings Bhd has signed an MoU with IT&e Ltd to subscribe for a 19.9% stake and establish a joint venture to develop portals providing e-stockbroking and related financial services. OSK will own 60% in the joint venture company. IT&e is a public-listed company on the Australisan Stock Exchange and its wholly-owned subsidiary designed, built and manages e-commerce site for Commonwealth Securities Ltd, Commonwealth Bank Ltd's online share trading company's website. OSK said it would also tap into IT&e's expertise and experience to further venture into Internet and e-commerce financial services. The Star 4/3/00 - LPI Capital Bhd plans to finance its proposed acquisition of additional Public Bank Bhd (PBB) shares via internally generated funds, it said in a circular to shareholders. As at Jan 31 this year, the group has RM194.6mil cash in fixed deposits placed with licensed institutions. As part of its investment programme, LPI has proposed to acquire and dispose of the PBB shares for a cash consideration of less than 25% of LPI group's net tangible assets. The purchases will be carried out at the prevailing market price provided that the average cost of total investment in PBB shares held by the LPI group (including the cost of the existing PBB shares already held) after taking into account such purchase of PBB shares, does not exceed RM4.40, being the closing market price on Feb 16.
