The Mood (1987) This was a real Class 'C' club/resort band doing crude versions of "popular" covers (and a lot of anything ~ often without any rehearsal), but we managed to squeeze out a few really good original pieces written by the lead-vocalist / lead guitarist / lead scam artist / once major-scale real-to-life 17 Magazine Pin-Up-teen-idol who lead this band. What is this? A brief - but expanding - autobiography site. One of my best all-time friends and ex-band members mentioned some people were "looking for me" thru the "Where are They Now" forum in www.motorcityrock.com After exploring the site, I realized there were big chunks of my, and other people's histories that are at least of interest to a few people who were good friends throughout the 80's and 90's - from the Detroit Rock scene. A lot of people dedicated some of the best years of their lives to the music of that era. At least, they deserve a few memories. |
My nephew's HOT modern Pop/PUNK band, based in Hollywood Bang Sugar Bang! Check out Bang Sugar Bang's site to see what it's like to REALLY "make it"! |
Who Am I ? That's me to the left. If you're here by invite, you already know the answer. If you landed here by chance, well...either figure it out, or e-mail me and we'll take it from there. I dedicated at least 1/3 my life to (trying to) become a "rock star". Though I achieved a higher level of success than 99.9% of those who try, it got to the point where it just wasn't worth it anymore.. |
1000's of promotional copies of their self-titled CD where shipped to college radio stations across the U.S. and Canada, and several tracks achieved top-10 status on their play lists. This was one of the first bands to practice Internet marketing strategies for distribution and sales ~ in a day before everyone was connected to the Internet (not THAT long ago, but just a few years too early). A few copies of the CD recently surfaced on eBay and ring-tones are available thru yahoo UK - this was news to us (the members), since it wasn't authorized... I guess it's a form of flattery ~ to be boot-legged... - CLICK HERE for MORE including AUDIO DOWNLOADS (UPDATED Sept 10, 2007) |
Trouble City (1990 - 1992) Rough, ragged and raw, the band rose to rapid acclaim in the Detroit and Flint Michigan area. Every time we opened for one of the scene's "more notable" bands, they refused to ever let us open for them again. Honestly. It had a lot to do with the club audience chanting "TROU-BLE CI-TY" in unison between every song of the head-liner's set. We truly experienced an uncontrollably fast rise to recognition - -MORE! - CLICK HERE - UPDATED NOV.2007!!! ~ NEW LINKS to AUDIO and VIDEO!!!- - - |
The PUSH Band (1984-1985) This band reached more people and had more going for it than nearly any other band from the Detroit mid-80's rock scene. We put out an outrageously energetic and unforgettable live performances. This earned us the opportunity to open for a wide range of top name nationally known recording acts and play more cities than maybe (modestly ~ I really think we did ~ and I'm NOT the one known for the biggest ego) any other band from Detroit after the Romantics until Kid Rock. We all actually, really, lived every minute for many months with other people treating us like "rock stars"... NEWS FLASH! Contributionas from Rick D (the "Lead Screamer") UPDATED June 2 2007 (still under construction ~ forgive the spelling 5-2007) |
Bolts (1982? - 1984?) Very popular though mostly-cover "club" band, with exceptionally well arranged and disciplined four part harmony. The band recorded and released one 45 RPM record (with no label support), which we sold as swag at bar gigs. We played more in Canada than in the U.S., to the point we were eligible for dual-citizenship ...MORE ...(Updated July 10 2007) |
Street Elite (1979 - 1981) This is the 'ORIGINAL' version of the band (in the sense that it was the FIRST "Street Elite") ~ kind of a 'New Wave / Rock' cross-over cover band. Some other guys used the same name later - I guess they thought it was a cool name. MORE ... MP3 DOWNLOAD ADDED (Updated July 10 2007) |
Mondo-Kane (1978-1979) Mostly cover, good honest first serious attempt for most of the then-young members to carve out a place in the rich Detroit club scene. We did a hand full of originals. Actually, this 4 piece band had very rich 3 and 4 part vocal harmonies, as 3 of the members were very good vocalists. Looking back, this band was extremely versatile, and each of the members had a lot of talent. - - - MORE - - - |
Wander Other Worlds (1993 - 1995) Still timeless, cross-genre, creative rock with no boundaries. Ted K. conceived the concept and started composing for this project while living in Hollywood during the late 80's. Every track is extremely intelligently layered, and all rest on a rock-solid rythm. People with low IQ's found it quite danceable, while more intellectual where impressed by the poetic and political insight expressed. Pure artists still find the creative musical structure and instrument voicing extremely cutting-edge, original, and inspiring. |
Stiff Kitten (1988) Strictly cover/club, "popular" rock band. The line-up was fronted by a hot chick vocalist, with 2 guitars, bass, and drums. We played Class 'A' clubs in Bay City / Saginaw, Lansing, Traverse City, and Jackson Michigan. I think we were most notable for touting an absolutely mind-boggling light show - which was really due to a friend of the singer and her brother, the bassist.
