Came to Brown's Landing, Dummer Township (now Hamilton Bay) from Ireland in 1858.
Here he purchased crown land and farmed while raising his family.

In September 1857 Robert received an Orange Lodge degree at the Lodge in Altnaveigh, County of Armagh, District of Newry.  It is unknown of further contact he had with the lodge after his arrival in Canada.

Joseph A. (1859-1950) married Bertha Hickson, horse owner, implement dealer and lived in Lindsay.
George (1860-1950) married Clara Nixon (-1947) teamster when he married and lived in Warsaw.
Robert (1862-1943) and Caroline
Tucker Grant, farmer and in various businesses in Saskatchewan.
James E. (1864-1943) married Ethel M.
Brown, farmed and handyman in Dummer and then Norwood.
Martha (1866-1937) married Thomas Edgar, retired farmer living in Peterborough while married.
William W (1868-1948) married Catherine Eva Tighe and farmed in Otonabee Township.
Sarah (1869-1947) married James H. Tighe who farmed in Douro Township.
John H (1871-1960) married Mary Olive McCracken and they lived in Peterborough.
David (1873-1960) married Lillian Martin (a teacher-1922) farmed the family farm before retiring to Warsaw.
Eliza (1877-1920) was handicapped.
