My Story
I was born on May 3, 1985. I wasn't until three months later that the doctors found out that I had hydrocephalus. I had my first surgery as soon as they found out, where they put in a VP shunt.

When I was 8 months old, I had an infection in my shunt and had to have it replaced.

When I was 18 months old, I had to have my shunt replaced again due to another infection.

When I was 4 years old, my parents were told that I no longer needed my shunt. I went all through my childhood knowing that I had some weird named disease that took years to pronounce.

When I was 14 years old, and in my freshman year of high school, I began to experience continual and incredibly painful headaches. After 3 CAT Scans, I was told that my ventricles were incredibly swollen with CS Fluid. I then had my fourth surgery. I missed two weeks of class before my surgery due to the headaches and then three weeks of class after the surgery.

I am now 19 years old and a sophomore in college. I still experience headaches every now and then, but it is nowhere near as bad as it had been.
