We have a group of girls in our school that could never receive enough recognition. They cheer and encourage our boys, build school spirit, represent our school at camp and set an example for others. They are our cheerleaders. This week, I want you to meet Mary Helen Ballbeck, a blue-eyed blonde senior. Mary has been very active in high school activities. Her sophomore year she was elected B-team cheerleader; she is active in the Young Democrats, a member of the annual staff and one of a hardworking group of Varsity cheerleaders. Somehow Mary also finds time to do a lot of reading and work part time at Mercy Hospital. Her favorite food is lobster and she likes nothing better than to listen to the singing of Jack Jones or Barbara Streisand. Swimming and horseback riding add to Mary's summer fun. This fall she plans to attend Kansas State University where she will major in political science. Mary is an asset to our school both as a student and a friend.
