Oscar Listings Omit Hepburn.
Nominations for the 37th annual Academy Awards-lead by "Mary Poppins" and its star-Julie Andrews-present a paradox this year. An actress who didn't get named is causing more talk than those who did. "Mary Poppins" got 13 nominations, including Julie's as best actress. "My Fair Lady" and "Becket" followed, with 12 each. But Audrey Hepburn, who rated critical raves in "My Fair Lady," was ignored entirely by academy members. Best picture nominations were: "Becket," "Dr. Stangelove," "Mary Poppins," "My Fair Lady," and "Zorba the Greek."

Teen Talk...This week we find ourselves in the midst of tests, dances, bob sledding and the flu. The basketball homecoming dance will be held following the Tiger Bulldog game at the Fort Scott Field House. Music will be furnished by the Aardvarks. The student nurses are sponsoring a dance at the Armory Friday night. Music will be furnished by the Seibrings from Pittsburg. The flu has certainly left its mark on our High School. Many teachers have been out ill and yesterday there were close to 100 absentees.

Ginny Anneberg-This week's featured cheerleader is Ginny Anneberg. Ginny, head cheerleader on the varsity squad, has been a cheerleader since her seventh grade year. She says she can hardly wait for summer because of her love for skiing and swimming. Until warm weather arrives she is content to do a lot of reading and listening to her Johnny Mathis albums. Ginny's activities include Pep Club, Thespians, Pretenders and Rainbow. Ginny's friendly manner and happy smile contributed to her being elected 1963 Homecoming Queen. Though she has not yet decided which college to attend, she plans to become a speech therapist.

Return to Teen Hop-Last Saturday Carol Leek and Kent Hewett, winners of the dance contest when Fort Scott appeared on Teen Hop, returned to compete against the winners from the four-state area towns. They represented Fort Scott well by winning first place. Carol and Kent received a portable television, two $5 checks, a gift certificate from Ramsey's, Scott shoes and a coke cooler. Congratulations on a job well done and for making such a nice haul

Diane Taylor, a senior at Fort Scott High School was chosen the Tiger Basketball Princess last night by the varsity squad. She was crowned by Steve Armstrong at the basketball dance following last night's game with Independence here.

Reader Opinion...Fort Scott Theater
To The Tribune:
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of this week, the junior class will present "The Innocents." Unfortunately, many people are not aware of the quality of this play, or of the change in the theater in Fort Scott. Under the excellent leadership of Richard E. Eschliman, the high school dramatics deparment has developed a theater for the entertainment of our citizens and the character development of our students. I hope the people of Fott Scott will encourage the development of the "new theater" by attending "The Innocents" and the future presentations at the high school. Signed: Mike Shephard, Member of the "New Theater"
State Farmer Applicants.
These four seniors at Fort Scott High School-Steve Crandall, Dudley Quick, Dennis Smith, and Tommy Collins-have a total investment of $16,000 in farming operations and are the school's applicants for the state farmer degree, the highest FFA honor on the state level. Collins also is up for district champion in beef, crops, hogs, and farm mechanics. He is a contender for the star framer of the district. All four are planning to attend college and each has a grade average of B or better.

Tigers Hand Mustangs 69-50 Trouncing
Bill Sailors and Bernard Jefferson made the nets sing here last night as the Tigers whipped the Iola Mustangs 69-50.

One of These Three girls will be chosen Basketball Princess by the Fort Scott High School Tigers cagers Friday night and will wear the crown held here by Steve Armstrong, Tiger co-captain. The candidates are Diane Taylor, Debbie O'Dell and Deanna Pugh.

Assets of FFA Members Reflect Program's Scope.
A total investment of $46,700.91 as of Jan. 1 reflects the scope of the High School vocational agriculture program here, as the 57 boys enrolled in the course celebrate National FFA Week. The opportunity for leadership in FFA work was emphasized by Milton Kohrs, chapter advisor. Current officers are Dudley Quick, president; Tom Colllins, vice president; Dennis Smith, secretary; and Donnie Pfeiffer, reporter.

Sailors In Action-Fort Scott Tiger, Bill Sailors hauls down a rebound in last night's game against Independence, the final game of the season for the team and the final high school basketball game of his career. Sailors has signed a letter of intent to play football at Kansas University next year.

America's Gruesome Viet Nam Position in Class by Itself...The United States has been in some gruesome and embarrassing spots since World War II but what is happening now in South Viet Nam is in a class by itself. Twice within the past four months Communist guerrillas from North Viet Nam have attacked American bases, killing Americans and destroying planes on the ground. American efforts in South Viet Nam have been all down hill. The war is being lost. The Red guerillas are making steady progress. South Vietnamese are quarreling amoung themselves. American lives are being lost there-more than 360 killed, more than 1,650 wounded-and American aid spead over years and in the billions, is going down the drain.
