JUDY SINGMASTER MERITS FURTHER MUSIC LAURELS

Additional music laurels have been added to the many honors of Miss Judy Singmaster with the announcement this week that she has become one of six 4-H members in the state to win a scholarship to the All State Music Clinic at Kansas State University in Manhattan June 7-14.

Judy is a member of the Southeast 4-H Club and has been active in the club's activities for the past eight years. She was earlier selected this year to sing in the state 4-H chorus during roundup June 1-5 and has now been asked to bring her accordion and viola to Manhattan to play in the state orchestra.

In 1963 Miss Singmaster won the county and district Top Blue ribbons in instrumental solos with her accordion and in 1964 she and her brother, Ricky, played a duet with Miss Singmaster on the accordion and her brother playing a string bass. They won the Top Blue ribbon in the county and a blue ribbon in the district.

Winner of 15 trophies for her music with the accordion and viola, she also plays the piano and sings. Last year she carried the vocal in the drama "The King and I" and sang two solos in the Christmas Gloria. She has been in the choral group several years. She also plays viola with the Fort Scott and Pittsburg Youth Symphony orchestras. Miss Singmaster was given a superior rating at the Kansas Federation music contest in Pittsburg when she played her accordion, and was chosen to play at the state Superior winners concert. She received a championship at the Heart of America Accordion Festival.
