What Makes TEL Unique?

TRAINING in a home environment and "on the job" are key ingredients for growing evangelistic leaders.  Teacher and trainee live and minister together, just as Jesus did with the twelve disciples who were "with Him" in the ministry (Mark 3:14).

TEL's uniqueness centers in our philosophy of blending and continuity. We establish a blending of missionaries and nationals who work together in spreading the gospel. The missionary and the national labor together as one. And continuity by linking new believers to the local church for regular fellowship.

EVANGELISTIC describes our endeavors to share the gospel. Even in China our workers are very productive in personal evangelism and follow-up, and we have an open door in some of the larger official churches to train disciples; they in turn are leading others to Christ. In countries where the gospel can be preached publicly, we are training full-time evangelists and gospel teams to minister in churches and cooperative crusades.

In addition, we develop chains of spiritual reproduction through individual soul-winning and discipling. The "Timothy Training Course" by Roy Robertson is taught to individuals, as well as to groups, to motivate and equip people for a one-to-one ministry.

LEADERSHIP is developed through training programs conducted by senior staff members in China, India, Indonesia and the Philippines. Some of these programs last for one year, while others last three months. Teaching is more than telling. Its guiding, coaching and training leaders in classroom lectures and as you live, work, and travel together. Our goal is training -- the head, the hands, and the heart -- thereby training in knowledge, in service. and in Christian character.

What is TEL's Mission?

TEL's purpose in recruiting, training, and launching evangelistic teams in Asia is motivated by Christ's Great Commission to preach the gospel to every creature.  Our members engage in the preparation, proclamation, and preservation aspects of public evangelism.  We stress follow-up and discipling, and linking the fruit of evangelism to local churches.

In the words of the late Dr. Bob Pierce, "Ten men are willing to preach on a platform for every man who is willing to build the platform."  An evangelist cannot operate alone; he needs a support team.  TEL teaches skills in preaching, meeting set-up, music, counselor training, and follow-up.  We use chalk talks, pantomime, puppetry, and gospel films to attract crowds.  In addition, we conduct youth camps, evangelism seminars, discipleship courses in churches and conferences for pastors.

TEL continues to grow by God's grace.  We now have more than 70 full-time staff workers in seven fields, including Vietnam and Russia.  Approximately half are nationals, the other half are missionaries; we need one another.. Every country of the world, including America, needs missionaries.  The missionary and the national work together as one, each with the same rights and the same opportunities for service.

We emphasize blending.   We work toward the blending of East and West; evangelism with follow-up, public evangelism with individual witness, ministry with management.  We stress servanthood -- serving the church and other groups.

TEL is actively recruiting missionaries for all our fields.  we are bringing short-term teams to make an evangelistic impact.  Above all, we ask God for full-time, life-long, committed laborers to help evangelize and train others.  TEL missionaries must be willing to develop permanent relations with other by learning the language, understanding the culture, and winning the trust of the local people.  We also need others to join in prayer and support, so that our international teams can reproduce spiritually.
