From the Bridge

by Becky Norris

Greetings from the Bridge!

I hope everyone made it through April Fool's Day without any serious damage. I guess it helps if it falls on the weekend - less chance for co-workers to play practical jokes on you. Anyway, I guess April Fools' Day loses something when you have to be a Responsible Adult.

I have good news on the Nielsen front. Star Trek: Voyager kicked butt in the February rating book. In many demos, it even beat the stalwart 20/20. As a matter of fact, Friday night as a whole did very well. The X-Files has never been stronger, and it looks like VR.5 will be successful, also. If you haven't checked it out, you should - it's got great special effects.

As most of you know, I took my Amateur Radio Licensing Examination last month. And today I received my license from the FCC. My Amateur call sign is KC5NPA. So if any of you are radio buffs, be looking for me out there on 2 meters.

We need to plan a commissioning party pretty soon. We should be able to become a full-fledged ship sometime this summer. Pretty cool, huh? So, if anyone has ideas for a commissioning party, let's hear them. It should be a big deal, so let's pull out all the stops. The Alpha Quadrant is the limit!

Many thanks to all the crew members who are submitting to the newsletter. Sandy says she may have to increase the size. But that's okay - I think it's fantastic that so many of you take an active part in the Informer. I always enjoy reading it, even though I'm sitting right here when it's put on the computer. I've been told by people in 'Fleet that they get a kick out of the Informer, especially the trivia questions. So keep writing! We have a newsletter we can be proud of!

Don't forget to let us know anytime you complete an Academy course or do something especially noteworthy. We keep track of all the crew accomplishments so that the promotions board can review them periodically.

Until next time - live long and prosper (and have fun!)
