FROM THE BRIDGE

by Commander Becky Norris

Well, crew, sorry I missed you last month, but as Sandy pointed out, it was February sweeps, and around here, that means chaos is queen. Then, of course, there's the upper respiratory crud epidemic that seems to have touched everyone (more like wrestled me to the ground and stomped my guts out!), but with some antibiotics and way cool codeine cough syrup, I'm starting to feel quite a bit better.

For anyone who missed our meeting last month at Barnes and Noble Bookstore, you missed a great one. We had some new members present, and the chairs were really comfy! But seriously, you also missed the announcement that the captain of the Vindicator, our mother ship, suddenly resigned a few weeks ago. Although this is not a laughing matter, it also isn't a crying one. The Fearless will move on, and won't be hampered by this incident. There's no reason why we can't keep on the path toward commissioning. Now we need to concentrate on keeping our Starfleet membership up, and planning a fund-raiser that will help us pay for our commissioning party.

I've been in contact with Habitat for Humanity. We are tentatively set to volunteer with that organization on March 30. When we get confirmation on that date, the calling committee will let everyone know. Everyone should make plans to be there, because it is a lot of fun, and also a terrific cause.

Also, everyone be planning ahead to May, when the Fearless will hold its third annual summer picnic. This year the extravaganza will be held in Big Spring at the city park. There will be more details on that coming up in the next few months, but it promises to be a good time for one and all. You might want to start working on your Frisbee technique now so you'll be ready! And don't forget, everyone needs to bring a side dish to accompany our cookout fare, so put on your little chef aprons and work that kitchen magic!

This month movie night will be at my house on Friday, March 15 at 7 p.m. We'll be making pizza, so bring your favorite topping and whatever non-alcoholic beverage you have a hankerin' for and we'll have some fun!

See everyone at the meeting! Until then, have a good one!

LL&P -

Becky
