Despite the fact that the Simpsons often use vulgar and ocscene language, I believe the show is a portrayal of life in North America in the 20 century. Homer is an earthy man with a sensual side to him. Marge is learning to stick up for herself, yet is ery dependant upon her husband. Bart is the apitamy of man. And Lisa is the child of anyone's dreams. Maggie is a beautiful baby. The Simpsons have blond hair, a portrayal that the American Society has not changed since the civil war, yet they allow people to forget about their simple perplexities, and to laugh.
